NRWHS November 2019 Newsletter
Mission: To prepare each student for a successful future
Focusing on College & Career Readiness
We have had a great start to the school year with some wonderful community-building events that have been well attended; thanks to everyone who has come out to learn about and celebrate our school community! From the Back to School Bash in August, to our Homecoming festivities in September, and Open House in October – we have enjoyed reconnecting with returning students and parents and also meeting our new students and parents!
We are excited to be continuing this trend with another important event that will take place later this year. We’ll be offering our College and Career Night on Wednesday, December 11 at 6 pm. Session topics will include the college application/search process, considerations for 9th and 10th graders for life beyond high school, making career decisions, community college options, financial aid, and more. We’ll have representatives from area colleges and universities including Cayuga Community College, Finger Lakes Community College, Keuka College, and St. John Fisher College. Mark your calendars; we hope to see you there!
Many of you are aware that our annual improvement efforts are crafted through an analysis of our district strategic action plan. This plan calls on us to increase student achievement on state assessments. In response, we will be administering interim assessments again this year. These cumulative, 10-week assessments provide our teachers and students with important information about academic progress that has been made and also concepts and skills that need to be revisited. The first quarter will end on November 8, and report cards will be mailed the following week. Thank you for supporting your child to work hard on both interim assessments and end-of-quarter assignments!
As always, please reach out with questions, comments, or concerns. Thanks for your continued support and take care!
