Dear Trailblazers

Welcome back from Spring Break!

We hope this newsletter finds each one of you refreshed and ready to renew the amazing work you've been doing this year with students and writing. There is so much to celebrate! We were able to capture only a small portion of it below in the shout outs.

Before Spring Break, we had a fabulous opportunity to train a number of principals in Writing Workshop. They were eager to learn, dove in, and asked many good questions.

We also visited The Studio School (LAUSD) to see Writing Workshop in action in a middle-school setting. It was quite inspiring to think about the level of writing the 8th graders, most of whom were English Learners, were doing after three years of writing workshop.

And at the recent special Board Meeting, Dr. Bird unveiled the video featuring all of your work. If you missed the link for this, we have included it below. It was powerful to watch the video and the Board members were very excited about the transformation in children and teachers.

As we enter our last quarter of the year, we wish you an extra dose of energy and a reminder that we are still here to support you. Don't hesitate to email or call us if have questions or need anything!

~ Jamie & Alyson

Writing Workshop March Goals

  • To demonstrate your own writing and process as a writer -- the good, the bad, and the ugly -- during your minilessons and conferences.
  • To build students' stamina and volume as writers.
