Summit High School

Message From Mrs. Grimaldi
Dear SHS Families,
There have been several incidents in the parking lot in the last few weeks that have put the safety of staff and students in jeopardy. When dropping students off in the morning please adhere to the following guidelines:
- When dropping students off in the driveway, please pull all the way up before stopping to let students out.
- Do not cut through visitors parking and the first row of staff parking spaces to avoid the traffic. (Staff have almost been hit on multiple occasions.)
- Do not pull into any spot to drop students off. All spots are assigned to students or staff, and they need to park.
- Do not use the handicapped parking spots by the gym as a cut through to get to the next row to turn around. (Again, students and staff have almost been hit.)
- When entering the school from Kent Place Blvd., do not cross the double line to avoid the back up of cars. Not only is this illegal, it is extremely dangerous.
To help avoid traffic and students being late to school, please consider dropping off students early. The building is open before 7am each day. Thank you for your assistance in making the morning drop off as safe as possible for all of our students and staff.
It's a great day to be a Hilltopper!
Stacy Grimaldi
Principal

Did You Know?
Did you know that you can view your student's check-ins on Genesis? Students scan into the bathrooms, library, help centers, counseling office, and nurse's office when they visit these locations during the school day. You can view these check-ins in Genesis. Log into your Genesis account, and click check-ins on the left side of the screen. Please discuss with your student any excessive time out of class.
You can also view how many times your student did not have their ID badge with them in school. Please help ensure that your student has their ID badge with them each morning.

Stephen will speak with his father, attorney and advocate, Kevin Hill. Together, they will discuss how to look out for warning signs within your own child, how to communicate with their peers’ parents when you notice something concerning and offer a parent’s perspective on adolescent substance use. We hope to see many parents and guardians at this important presentation, and we are grateful to the Summit Educational Foundation for making it possible. Construction Update
In anticipation for the start of construction for the second floor to the Library Media Center, we have moved the library to a classroom opposite the cafeteria. In addition, the classes that have typically been scheduled in the library have been moved to other classrooms in the building. All other spaces in the building are fully accessible for student and staff use. Equipment, material, and temporary fencing for the Library Media Center construction should be arriving shortly. In addition, we are on schedule for the construction bidding process on the lower field construction to take place in the next few weeks.
I will provide weekly updates on the construction projects at Summit High School.
