Welcome To Week TEN!

Dear Brahma Family,

Together with our Activities Director Janna Van Horn, and class of ’24 GLCs, Marc Natividad, Ginger Zimmerman, and Julie Salas, we hosted our first Senior meetings of the school year last Tuesday. It was an honor to speak to all of our seniors as they start their final year of high school. In addition to discussing our 2023-24 theme “Reveal Your Greatness”, I emphasized the importance of finishing strong, conveying the message that “it’s not about how you start, it’s about how you finish.” I expressed my admiration for the seniors, recognizing the extraordinary resilience and determination they have shown considering the challenges of starting high school during the pandemic.

Speaking of impressive, congratulations to the Thundering Herd for earning first place at the Placentia Band Review, their first competition of the season. And to to our drum major, Joseph Wu, who earned the Sweepstakes award in the competition.

The first of our two Fall Plays, Sleepy Hollow, will premiere on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. and will be performed a second and final time on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.

It’s Branding Iron Week! The week we play for the Branding Iron, which is currently mounted in front office at DBHS. There will be lunchtime activities all week and there will be an exciting Night Rally on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Amphitheater. On Friday night we will host the showdown for the Branding Iron at 7:00 p.m.

Congratulations to our Volleyball team on a great regular season. On Thursday evening, we will host Pacifica Christian High School for a first-round CIF playoff match at 6:00 p.m.

Hello parents and guardians!

Our next English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meeting is on Monday, October 23 from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. At the meeting, we will nominate our District English Learner Advisor Committee (DELAC) representative and discuss updates for our English Learner program.

The DELAC representative meets with other parents at the district office and helps contribute to the district plan for English learners. This representative also gets updates from the district office and relays these updates to our school’s ELAC members during our ELAC meetings. If you are interested in being the DELAC representative for DBHS, please email either Mrs. Cho or Dr. Dreyer by Friday, October 20. (Please see emails below.)
