Holiday Cards for Heroes
Rep. Schneider Announces “Holiday Cards for Heroes” Program
Constituents are invited to leave holiday greetings for active-duty military at Schneider’s Lincolnshire Office
LINCOLNSHIRE, IL – Today, U.S. Representative Brad Schneider (IL-10), launched the “Holiday Cards for Heroes” program for the 2017 holiday season.
Tenth District constituents are invited to drop off holiday cards for military servicemembers at Congressman Schneider’s District Office in Lincolnshire, starting today through Friday, December 15, 2017. Holiday cards placed in envelopes should not be sealed closed.
“The holidays are a special time for families and friends to gather together, but many of our brave men and women in our armed forces must spend this season far from family and home,” said Schneider. “A personal, handwritten card is a much-appreciated way to say thank you to the Americans serving our country, offer words of encouragement, and share holiday cheer. I’m glad our office can help facilitate this program to connect constituents and our service members.”

ELA Pilots
As we move forward, please keep in mind that we are piloting (investigating) various programs, and the likelihood of adopting each program is only between 30%-50%. I know that as we start making final decisions this spring, there are going to be those of you who had your "heart set" on a specific program and may find yourselves disappointed. Please remember that we will select the program as a district based on set criteria. In the meantime we need to be remain open- minded about ALL of the programs and their capacities to best meet the needs of our diverse student body while also keeping in mind best practices and the necessity for balanced literacy. If you have questions about the pilots, please see Barb, Lenayn or me.
Lexia & Edgenuity
If you have not had a chance to get your kids on the programs, please let me know if you need assistance or support. I will help in any way I can. We really need to be utilizing these amazing resources when possible. I have heard great feedback from parents about using the programs at home as well.
Thanks!

Recycling- PLEASE READ!!!
This year we will be enhancing our recycling program. We need your help! There will be new recycling containers placed in your classrooms. We need to avoid throwing items in the garbage if they can be recycled.
Students will need some help determining what is recyclable and what is not when placing items in your classroom bins. Attached is a flyer that I was hoping you could all share with your students on Tuesday to help facilitate this.
Every night, we will be asking the cleaning company to empty your classroom bins into the large recycling bins in the pods. Those will then be taken to the bins outside in back of the school.
