Cassidy Crew Zoom at Noon!
Quarantine Connections
Hope this letter finds you well and healthy! I just have a few important notes I wanted to share, so I'll make it as short as possible today. :)
Cassidy Crew Last Week of Academics and Due Dates
Due to the need to allow for time to return computers and technology borrowed from the school, I am not assigning any further academics after this week. All work is due by Sunday evening, 5/17/2020. Mrs. Solsvig, Miss Rachel and I are available every day for zoom at 11 am if students are wanting some extra help with their work, or just need the accountability of having us there while they work. Our regular zoom meetings happen at noon.
This week I have set up another digital escape room experience around the Edgar Allen Poe classic, "The Tell-Tale Heart." I have assigned it for reading as well as an associated comprehension quiz. I can't wait to have the class compete in the escape room on Friday at noon! I think it will be a fun and challenging way to wrap up this crazy school year.
Students FINAL To Do List:
- Finish Covid Time Capsule
- Read The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe and take the google quiz in our google classroom.
- Reading Logs turned in
- Attend the Tell-Tale Heart Digital Escape Room on Friday
- Have 34 Math lessons complete (for an A)
- Have 21 Science Lessons complete (6th-8th grade) or 14 Science Lessons (4th-5th grade) for an A
- Turn in all other google classroom assignments completed
- Take all Spelling and Vocabulary Tests on Spelling City.
Classwork is found in the Google Classroom, Spelling City for spelling and vocabulary, and CK12.org for Science and Math. I have included any and all links on the Google Classroom and students should always start there.
YEARBOOK
Lifetouch is saying that they are experiencing some delays with printing, but hope to have everything printed and to us by the end of the school year. I will keep you posted on any new information as it comes in.
Computer Technology Returns
The times and dates for returning all borrowed computers with their cords are as follows:
Monday 5/18, 8 am - 4 pm
Tuesday, 5/19 8 am - 7 pm
Wednesday 5/20 8 am - 4 pm
Drops offs will be received at the front of the building, and technology must be turned in no later than 4 pm on May 20th. Please have everyone remain in your vehicle, similar to student drop off in the morning (no students out of the cars please). There will be signs with a phone number to call. A staff member will come out and take the technology from you while you remain in your vehicle. It would be appreciated if you could place the tech in a plastic bag marked with your student's name and classroom number ( example: Cassidy Room 121). We would also like to thank you with a small gift of a plant so our students remember that we are thinking about them.
I will continue reaching out to parents via the Remind App, home and cell phone calls, as well as email through our Google Classroom. Continue to work hard and finish strong Crew!
I hope this has been helpful. Again, please know we are in this together. If you have any questions or concerns, call me anytime. My home number is 376-4710, cell is 775-4707.
Thank you for all you are doing, and stay safe and strong! I also want to thank you so much for your support this year. I feel very blessed to have been able to be in your children's lives this year and honored to have been their teacher. I will miss those who are moving on more than I have words to express. However, I am excited for those who will stay on and look forward to continuing to build on the learning and relationships we have made in the coming school year.

8th Grade Promotion
From the Principal
Dear 8th Grader Midnight Sun Family Learning Parents,
We would like to do a drive-through 8th grade promotion to celebrate our 8th graders moving on this year since we aren’t able to do an assembly as we normally do. We would like to do this on Wednesday, May 20th. Our plan is to have cones set-up with at least 15 feet between them in front of the school in the parking spots and have the 8th grade students stand in front of their vehicles with their parents only. Staff will stand on the sidewalk side of the parking lot and be spaced at least 6 feet apart to wave to the students and hold signs to celebrate them. We will also be having a stand with a poster sized picture of them to put in front of their vehicle. Our thought is that if they have family or friends that would normally attend their promotion, that they could drive between staff and students, honking and carrying on to acknowledge them. We encourage parents to decorate their vehicles as wanted. We want to acknowledge our students in some way as they have earned this right of passage and will be greatly missed at our school. This is very optional, and only if you feel comfortable doing this.
However, remember that students and families from not under the same household must maintain social distancing, and that during the parade of cars only parents and 8th graders may stand by their posters outside of the cars. All other siblings and family must remain in the vehicle at this time. Students will get to take their posters, certificate, and a gift ,that will be attached to the back of the poster. We are going to ask parents to get there around 5:30 if they’d like to decorate their vehicle, and that people coming to drive by the students arrive at 6:00pm. The drive through will end at 6:30pm.
We are really looking forward to this and excited for our 8th graders to get the recognition they deserve.
If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call, text, or email me.

Next Year Classroom Changes
This should not affect any of the students that are currently in my class. However, if you had a sibling going into 4th grade next year and were hoping to get them in my classroom, this would no longer be an option, as my classroom will be 5th - 8th.
I hope that helps you in your decision-making for next school year! Of course, we have no idea exactly what the future holds, but I do hope that we will be working together again in our building this fall!
