From the Principal's Desk...
Elmwood Parents,
We hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! The Kindness Challenge has begun at Elmwood this past week! Each day we challenge each student to do different things to show Kindness. Examples include: give a compliment to another person, hold the door for someone, or simply help someone at school or home. We challenge you to talk with your students about being kind every day! Thank you to all of our students and families who participated in Student Council's Food Drive last month, it was very successful!
The students this week have come back ready to learn and work hard. This week we started the Winter AimsWeb Assessment for all K-5 students in both math and reading. This is an assessment to see how much they have grown from August until December. We will share school wide information after all students have taken it.
The Winter Holiday Shoppe is next week! Our teachers will let you know what day their classes will be going down to shop. You can also shop online and get it delivered directly to your house. The proceeds go to our PATT to support student learning and activities at Elmwood.
For all 5th grade students and families, the Middle School Course Selection will be at Elm on Wednesday Dec. 8th @ 5:30pm! We hope all families and students can make it! If you have questions please reach out to Mrs. Groeneveld, groenevelda@epcusd401.org
We also have an early release next Friday Dec. 10th. Dismissal is at 1pm on this day! During this time, teachers meet with their teacher teams to determine next steps in the classroom for our students.
If you have any questions or need anything please don’t hesitate to reach out to Mr. Lerner, lernerm@epcusd401.org or Mrs. Hagins haginss@epcusd401.org! We look forward to a wonderful week and weekend!
Lastly, As we enter the holidays, we know that they can be a joyful yet stressful time. If you need support this holiday season, please do not hesitate to reach out to one of us, or to our school social worker, Mrs. Carin.
We hope you have a restful weekend! As always, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
