April 17 Leadership Meeting The Gears are in Motion Now
Positives and Negatives were offered by each person in regards to article related to the strategy called Instructional Rounds. Some positives included collaboration, new teaching ideas, a time to learn from others, and possible development of a mentor program. The negatives included time intensive, perception of the teacher being observed, method for feedback not mentioned.
Instructional Rounds
Focus on pedagogical skills and student learning. Have more dialogue and professional collaboration as well as self reflection. Think of it as new learning not criticizing. Have a common goal or vision for instructional expectations. Build trust when observing peers.
Visiting teachers will visit host teachers about 10-15 minutes to observe. Take note of best practices for behavior intervention, management techniques and unique instruction.
