The Gower Gazette
Week 2- July 20, 2018
In the Classroom...
I am still finishing up assessments. We will schedule first quarter conferences after track out so that I can share your child's data with you and ways that you can help support him/her at home.
In math we have been working on building number sense and organizing data. We learned that data means information. We will continue with both these skills during the week.
In Social Studies we are working on understanding what it means to be a good citizen in our community. This week we read the story, Lemon the Duck. This is a great book that teaches about compassion and having empathy. In this story a duck is unable to balance and walk. The class that hatched his egg have compassion and care for Lemon. They work together to create a device that will help Lemon stand and walk. This is a true story. The kids loved hearing it and making connections to how we can have compassion for each other and help one another. I will be posting this book on my Read & Respond Blog; take a listen to it if you get a chance. It's a great lesson for everyone!
Don't forget that our class social is on Tuesday at Sunni Sky's. I will be heading that way after school and plan to be there around 4:30. I hope you can stop by. It's a great way to connect with other families in our class and get to know me a little better too.
I am excited for the coming week; we will be creating our first technology project this week to share with you all. I can't believe it is track out already. Our last day is Thursday.
I hope you all have a terrific Sunday! Don't forget to read the Notes section for more information.
