Dear IJA Families,

PUMATASTIC! What is Pumatastic! Well its PUMA with a whole bunch of Fantastic! It has been Pumatastic working in partnership as a school community this year. We are better together and spirit week has communicated that same school spirit that makes Ida Jew Academy such a great place. Students are learning both in and outside of the classroom while also developing socially. Our teachers/staff daily intentional efforts to teach, support and grow our students are significant. Our parents/ families equally continue to support our efforts at IJA. Keep up the good work everyone with emphasizing our COVID-19 protocols and positive character development. Wear the Mask, Wash Those Hands and Practice Social Distancing we are stronger together in our efforts because of our partnership. Cookie Dough Fundraiser Time! "Otis Spunkmeyer" due 10/15

Our fundraiser will be by order form and online. A packet was sent home. Shopping can be done through paper order forms or online. We ask that each family register by either downloading the MyFundR APP from the app store or registering on our website at register.schoolshopping.org

Kaiser Permanente "Nightmare on Puberty Street" Virtual assembly 10/19 9:40am

(Grades 7 and 8)

- Once again we will be hosting Kaiser Permanente virtually to provide information to our students. Parents have the opportunity to opt-out of the assembly and if you have any questions please contact school administration 408-223-3750.

Coffee with the Principal 10/20 at 9:00am Virtual (Click Here)

- Join us for Coffee and conversation as we meet together in partnership. We will be sharing updates/ information.

"The Great Shake Out" 10/21 at 10:21am

- We will be participating in the Great Shake Out (Earthquake Drill) in collaboration with a number of schools in California.

College Day 10/27 for all grades

We will be communicating college going culture both at home and at school together.

Costume Parade 10/29 Tentative in planning

- We are currently assessing how we can conduct our annual Costume Parade this year while adhering to all COVID-19 protocols. More information will be shared.

Physical Education Update Grade 7/8

- We recently updated our PE days as a school to provide our teachers in grades 7 and 8 support time. Students will continue to have PE on B days as in the past, but B days will only be on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (See Schedule)

Hispanic Heritage Month 9/15- 10/15

We celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month to recognize the achievements and contributions of Hispanic American champions who have inspired others to achieve success.

Upcoming Dates/Events

  • Sep. 15-Oct. 15: Hispanic Heritage Month
  • Oct. 20: Coffee with the Principal Virtual at 9:00am
  • Oct. 21: The Great Shake Out Earthquake Drill
  • Oct. 27: College Day
  • Oct. 29: Costume Parade (Tentative we are planning this event)

Traffic/Parking Lot Safety
  • Please do not make an illegal left turn into our parking lot or when leaving our parking lot.
  • Please watch your speed and allow enough time to get to our school and leave our school.
  • Parents/Families please Wear a Mask when dropping off and picking up your children in our parking lot (Students are watching).

Our PTA is very involved in our school community, they have arranged school wide events, provided school spirit days that add to the school culture here at IJA. They also help us with fundraising that help support our school.
