Scientific Revolution

What was the change?
The Scientific Revolution changed the way people thought about the physical world around them. It led scientist such as Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler and Newton to question the traditional beliefs of the working universe. Careful observations and willingness to question new way of thinking about natural world and the acceptance of beliefs. Some of the cause are Geocentric Theory, Heliocentric Theory, The Scientific Method and more.
Who were the people associated with this change?
Nicolaus Copernicus
Copernicus had a theory that the sun was centered in the universe and the earth revolved around it which is called the heliocentric theory. He knew that most scholars and clergy would reject his theory because it contradicted their religious views. Also, his idea of the heliocentric theory made some big controversies. He published his book called "On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres" which came in before his death.
Johannes Kepler
Kepler discovered that mars' orbit was an ellipse . He also best known for his dicovery of the planetary motion. He published the "Astonomia Nova " which was about his discoveries which are now called Kepler's first two laws of planetary motion.
Galileo Galilei
Galileo was a Italian scientist that built on the new theories about astronomy. He discovered that Jupiter had four moons and the sun had dark spots. When he told the church about his discoveries the church didn't like his theories, because it makes the church look like liars and they didn't accept it. So the church gave him options that he could leave the discoveries alone or be banned. Later on, he was on house arrest and when he died, people noticed that he was right and they felt sorry for not believing in him.
Issac Newton
Newton discovered that some forces ruled motion of the planets and all matter on Earth was the law of universal gravitation. He also had three laws of motion:
- First law of motion is that an object at motion will stay in motion unless acted on by an unbalanced force.
- Second law is when the greater the mass of an object being accelerated the greater amount of force needed to accelerate the object. Also known as Friction= Mass x Acceleration.
- Third law is for every action there is an equal and opposite re-action.

How did the change impact society at the time?
The change impacted the society by making people think hard to figure out if the scientist were telling the truth because if you're not a scientist you don't understand what is going on. Some people back then thought that the Earth was the center of the universe while others believed the sun was. It didn't matter what they thought because they went with it, but they questioned the scientist, which kind of made some big controversies, but it showed that they believed in the scientist and what they are here for.
How is that change evidenced in today's modern society?
Now a days, we have technology that are powerful enough to help us to figure out what is going on with the universe. In modern day society we see images and real documents that show explanations on how the planets and the sun are placed. Since we know the sun is first and Earth is third we got it all explained now. It doesn't mean the scientist were wrong, they just had different perspective in how they see the world. The scientist back then knew what they were talking about, they just had different things to say than others.
