Principal Orellana's Message
Ygnacio Valley Parent Newsletter October 23rd, 2020
Today more than ever we are #StrongerTogether! Thank you for your efforts to support your child during distance Learning.
See the news below on Distance Learning Expectations, Parent-Teacher Conferences, Picture Days, NEW Food Services Times, and Red Ribbon Week!
PTA Membership Drive and Donations:
We need your SUPPORT: Our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is doing their membership drive. The membership costs $10 dollars for ONE person or $12 per family. The membership is a donation to support all students at YVE.
We need each family to donate at least $10 dollars for membership so the PTA has funding to provide assistance for our children at YVE. We thank you ahead of time for any donation you can provide our PTA. You still have time to give your donation (cash or check, OK) during the upcoming Picture Days and the October Distribution of Materials day.
PTA is also selling 2019-2020 Yearbooks at REDUCED PRICE OF $15. They are available for sale in the office, during Picture Days and the October Distribution of Materials Day.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are in October!
This school year we are holding the Parent-Teacher Conferences in October. They will be from October 19th-30th.
Teachers will hold their conferences before school, after school, during Flex Time (8-9) in the morning and during the Virtual Office hours from 2:20-3:00. For this reason, teachers won't be available during Virtual Office Hours for consultation.
On Wednesdays, teachers are available from 12:00-3:00pm for Parent-Teacher conferences.
Due to the fact that teachers will be holding the conferences, they will have up to 48 hours to return emails and communications.
Each Parent - Teacher Conference is about 20 minutes long. The main objective of this conference is goal-setting based on assessment results. Together parents and teachers partner up to support the success of your child! #strongertogether
Picture Days at YVE
Dear Families,
We will do our Picture Day differently this school year. We will have them on THREE separate dates by CLASSROOM to ensure safety for all. If you have more than one child, you may choose ONE of the classes spots to come for picture day. These pictures are school pictures and you may purchase them if you'd like. You will receive an email from LifeTouch for purchasing options. You are not obligated to purchase any pictures.
We need you bring your children so we have updated pictures in our database.
We will do PICTURE DAYS on Tuesday, October 27th, Wednesday, October 28th, and Thursday, October 29th from 4:00-7:00 pm in the cafeteria.
To allow for better safety precautions:
- Come at the assigned time
- Wear your mask. Have your child/ren wear a mask as well.

Distance Learning Expectations
1. Students are expected to attend ALL daily live instructional time via zoom meetings. If you have a doctor's appointment, please call the office. Do not interrupt the teacher's class.
2. Students are also expected to do their Independent Work time as assigned in the Class Schedule. See the class schedule in our school website https://yves-mdusd-ca.schoolloop.com/ under YVE Distance Learning.
3. Students need to have a space to work that is free from distractions during Daily Live Instruction (zoom meetings). Please, help your child have a quiet work space and limit conversations around your child. TV and radio should be off. They are big distractions for the children while in class.
4. Organization is KEY. Please, have your child have all materials ready to work. They may put the materials in a container, a bag, or a backpack so they are easily accessible during class time.
