Mrs. Collins' Fifth Grade News

June 6 - 8

WE MADE IT! :) Congratulations, parents and students, we've almost made it to the end of this 5th grade year! I am so proud of our students who have worked so hard to accomplish so much!

There are some exciting things coming up, so please read carefully!

Monday, June 5, 2016 ~ Last Full Day of the School Year!

10:30 a.m.

Students will participate in "Round Up" where they will get the 411 on what Junior High is all about! They will find out about the organizational system and some other helpful tips of how to fly through Junior High with grace and agility!

12:30 p.m.

STUDENTS - WEAR YOUR UNIFORMS; BRING YOUR P.J.'s, Blankets, Books and Teddy Bears!

We're going to have an afternoon of reading and AR quizzes before the very end of school. Students should wear their uniforms to school and bring their P.J.'s to participate in this fun day!

Tuesday, June 7, 2016 ~ Noon Dismissal!

8:15 - 12:00

End of the year party, Harry Potter Style! Students should wear their home-made, creative costume based on a Harry Potter character! We will partake of magical treats and watch the second Harry Potter movie!

We have enjoyed the Harry Potter books this year, and I am so glad that we are able to finish out the year with a fun reminder of this shared experience!

Wednesday, June 8, 2016 ~ Last Day of School ~ 10:30 Dismissal

8:30 a.m.

Please join us for our last mass of the year! Then we'll wrap up and say goodbye for the summer! It has truly been a gift to have taught your children, and I look forward to seeing most of you again next year as I begin the next chapter of my teaching career in Junior High!

Summer Reading

Don't forget about Summer Reading! Make sure that you are encouraging your child to spread out their assignments over the course of the summer so that the last week isn't ruined for them! Remember, the Non-Fiction book can be completed on Google Classroom OR may be hand-written (according to the second page of the packet -- make sure you read through the requirements).

I am so excited to experience next school year with you all!

Send me a pic!

Share your summer experiences with me! Take a picture of your child completing the summer reading and I will post all the pictures I receive in the first week of the school year next year! I will post some pictures of our summer as well!
