Eberwine & Lindsey Become First Howell Female Wrestlers To Qualify For State

On Friday and Saturday the Girls Wrestling Program continued it's historic season by competing in the District Tournament. It was a great two days for the Lady Vikings and one that saw Howell earn it's first two female State Qualifiers in program history. Emily Eberwine and Dani Lindsey both finished second at the District Tournament and punched their ticket to the MSHSAA State Championships. This is the first year that MSHSAA has offered Girls Wrestling and Howell will be represented at State by Emily and Dani. Congratulations to these multi-sport athletes on a historic day. All Viking fans are looking forward to following these two at the State Tournament!

JV Wrestling Wins GAC Tournament, Places 12 of 13 In Top Four

The JV Boys Wrestling Team had a dominant day at the GAC Tournament on Saturday. Our Vikings placed 12 of 13 in the top four on their way to the GAC Tournament Chanpionship. Alex Richardson, Jaxson Elder, and Chris Gibson finished with championships at their weight class to lead the Vikings. It has been a very successful season for the JV Vikings as they also finished their dual season earlier in the week at 18-2 on the season. Congratulations to our JV on a great season!

FCCLA Advances 10 To State

The Howell FCCLA recently had a very successful competition. Ten of our Howell FCCLA members qualified for the State Competion this spring. You can view the students and the categories they will compete in at the State level below. The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a career and technical student organization for students in Family and Consumer Science education at Howell. FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life -- planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision making, and interpersonal communication -- necessary in the home and workplace.

Dalton & Schark Recognized For Reaching 1,000 Points

On Friday night prior to the boys basketball game Matt Schark and Daylan Dalton were recognized for reaching a major milestone in their Howell basketball careers. The two standout basketball players for the Vikings both scored their 1,000th point in the past two weeks and were presented with a ball prior to the game. Congratulations to Matt and Daylan on a great accomplishment that few are able to achieve in their high school careers.

Golden Girls & Company Advance To Finals Of UDA Nationals

On Saturday afternooon our JV and Varsity Golden Girls & Company advanced to the UDA Nationals. They will compete on Sunday afternoon for a shot at a National Championship. On Saturday, the Varsity GG's & Co finished 15th in the Nation in the new "Game Day" category that is being offered this year. The UDA Nationals showcase the top high school dance programs in the country each year. Good luck to our Golden Girls & Company as they compete against the best programs in the country on Sunday!

Boys Basketball Hosts 1st Annual FHSD Special Olympics Night, $550 Raised For FHSD Special Olympics

Howell programs continue to raise the bar on their involvement and outreach in our community. This involvement has become a trademark of Howell programs. On Friday night the Boys Basketball program hosted the First Annual FHSD Special Olympics Night. The evening showcased our FHSD Special Olympics students and included a girls basketball halftime performance by the "Sparks" cheerleading team and a basketball scrimmage at halftime of the boys basketball game. The evening was a huge success and raised $550 for the FHSD Special Olympics programs. Thank you to the Boys Basketball program and our fans for supporting this new Howell event which will quickly become another Howell tradition!

Kohl's Cares Partners With Howell For FHSD Special Olympics Event

Howell activities, clubs and sports continue to support and engage with our community. In the 2018-19 school year our programs have served over 30 organizations, volunteered nearly 2,000 hours and raised almost $25,000 for local charities. On Friday night, Kohl's Cares joined our Boys Basketball program in helping to raise money for the FHSD Special Olympics. Kohl's Cares has a strong relationship with Howell programs and continues to help support our community through volunteer efforts within our programs. Thank you to Chris White and Kohl's Cares for their continued partnership with Howell programs and our community events!

Heismeyer Attends Mizzou Junior Day; Receives Offer From Michigan State

On Saturday, junior Drake Heismeyer attended the University of Missouri Football "Junior Day." The event is attended by the top football players in the country, many of which have been offered scholarships by Missouri. Drake currently holds an offer from the University of Missouri among several other DI programs. On Saturday he added to this list by being offered a scholarship by Michigan State University. Congratulations to Drake on representing Howell in such a positive way at the National level.

Howell Band Member Reckis Earns Opportunity With Blue Knights

Congratulations to Jeffrey Reckis on earning a spot on the nationally recognized Blue Knights. The Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps is a World Class competitive junior drum and bugle corps that is based in Denver, Colorado. This will be Jeffrey’s rookie season with the Blue Knights and his 4th year to march Drum Corps. Congratulations to Jeffrey on this great accomplishment and for representing Howell at the National level!

Girls Basketball Having Success On Court & In Community

The Girls Basketball program has had a successful two week stretch where they have won five straight games. Their efforts and success reach far beyond the court. On Saturday the Girls Basketball program volunteered with Kids Against Hunger. This is the third outreach project that the Girls Basketball program has been involved with this season. Thank you to Coach Muench, the staff, and players for representing Howell in such a positive way in our community through giving back to others.

Swimmer & Scholar Bowl Member Yang Earns National Recognition

Congratulations to Howell Swimmer and Scholar Bowl member David Yang on being named one of less than five thousand high school students in the country who will have the opportunity to become a United States Presidential Scholar. David is a great representative of Howell both in the classroom and in activity and sport. All Viking fans wish David the best of luck as he tries to become 1 of only 161 high school seniors in the country to be named a Presidential Scholar!

Schulte Earns U.S. National Soccer Team Camp Invite

Congratulations to Howell senior and boys basketball player Patrick Schulte on recently being invited to particpate in the U.S. National Soccer team camp. U.S. Soccer announced the U.S. U-18 Men’s National Team roster for the upcoming training camp to be held at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California from February 1-7, 2019 which sees STLFC goalkeeper Patrick Schulte named to the 20-man roster.

The training camp serves as an opportunity for the players selected to work with U.S. U-18 MNT coach Tab Ramos as he prepares his plans for the upcoming 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland. This is the first time that Schulte has been called for a USMNT camp after spending the last four years in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy program with St. Louis Scott Gallagher and Saint Louis FC. He has made eight appearances for the STLFC Academy U-19 team this season after playing in 23 games last year between the U-19 and U-17 teams. Schulte recently signed an Academy contract with the Saint Louis FC first-team for the upcoming 2019 USL Championships season and he will join St. Louis University in the fall. (

Howell Students Must Plan Ahead To Become A College Student-Athlete

Are you interested in becoming a college student-athlete? The journey to compete at the college level takes much more than athletic skills and years of traning athletically. Students must also meet ever increasing academic standards. The process can seem overwhelming and confusing for students and parents. Below is a very helpful timeline to help you plan out your high school years and meet eligibility requirements upon graduation. Howell Alum Sutton Smith Invited To NFL Combine

Congratulations to Howell alum Sutton Smith on being invited to the NFL combine. The former Viking finished his college career as the top pass rusher in the nation the past two seasons. Sutton hopes to become the second Howell alum to make an NFL roster, following in the foosteps of Calvin Munson who is currently with the New England Patriots. Good luck to Sutton!

Upcoming Spring Impact Testing Dates Released

This past week Impact Testing dates were released for the upcoming spring season. Impact testing is required for baseball, girls lax, girls soccer, boys volleyball, & track (jumpers & pole vault). Freshman and Juniors in those sports need to complete testing prior to the first day of spring sports if they have not completed it previously this year. Students new to Howell must also complete the testing.

Impact Testing for will take place on the following dates. Students must arrive on time so that all participants can begin testing at once. All testing dates and times below take place in Learning Commons.

Mandatory Spring Sports Eligibility Parent Meeting Set For February 13th

The spring season sports eligibility parent meeting has been set for February 13th. All students planning on participating in a spring sport must attend this meeting with a parent. Eligibility paperwork turn in will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the high school commons with the meeting portion of the evening beginning at 6:00 p.m. All eligibility paperwork must be complete to be turned in. All students participating in a fall MSHSAA sponsored activity must have this completed prior to the first day on February 25th. It is recommended that all paperwork be turned in at the sports eligibility event on February 13th. To ensure participation on February 25th all fully complete paperwork must be turned in no later than Thursday, February 21st at noon. A link to all eligibility paperwork can be found below.

2019-20 School Year Start Dates & Dead Periods Announced For MSHSAA Activities & Sports

The summer, fall, winter, and spring dead periods and starting dates for MSHSAA sponsored activities has been released for the 2019-20 school year. These dates can be found below. We hope that this information helps all Vikings and their families coordinate and prepare for the summer and sports seasons ahead during the 2019-20 school year.
