Dear Enumclaw School District Community,
Exciting First Days
Welcome Back! We are so happy to have students back in the buildings again. These first few days of school have been filled with excitement for students and staff, and I trust that our parents and guardians have experienced some joy with the familiarity of the school schedule back in place. The next few weeks in ESD will include building new relationships, internalizing new schedules and old routines, and picking up where we left off last spring with teaching and learning at all levels. It should take very little time to remember what was learned last year and commingle that with new expectations designed to stretch each of us as learners. And don’t forget that Fall sports and afterschool clubs and activities are underway as well. We encourage all students to find ways to be involved in their school, both in and out of the classroom. The 2023-24 school year promises to be a great one!

SRO Position Update
Enumclaw School District School Resource Officer Position Temporarily Suspended for the Beginning of the 2023-2024 School Year
Due to recent staffing changes within the Enumclaw Police Department, the School Resource Officer position will be suspended for the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year. The Enumclaw Police Department will continue to work closely with the Enumclaw School District to ensure that all safety needs will be met during this time. Our partnership with the Enumclaw School District is extremely valuable to us, and we want to ensure a seamless transition as we prepare a School Resource Officer to take over later this school year.
“The Enumclaw Police Department is in a cycle of training up new employees to meet the needs of our city and school district. The safety and security of our children and school properties is a top priority for our department. My goal is to have an SRO back in place by the time kids return from winter break, if not sooner.” said Chief of Police Tim Floyd.
The Enumclaw School District will begin the school year with one security officer at Enumclaw High School and will continue to work in close partnership with the Enumclaw Police Department to respond to safety and security needs.
“We are incredibly grateful for our close partnerships with all of our local law enforcement agencies. We appreciate their prompt response and support. We look forward to welcoming a new School Resource Officer later this school year.” said Superintendent Dr. Shaun Carey.
