East End Elementary News
October 31, 2022
Dear East End Families,
Happy Halloween! It is always exciting at Halloween at East End! Looking forward to a great day with our EEE students!
This is Book Fair Week! Parents and guardians are welcome to come shop with your child from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. each afternoon. Just sign-in at the office and your child can join us for shopping each afternoon. Thanks to you for your support of the EEE Book Fair.
Thanks to each of you who assisted and cooperated with us as we had to reroute traffic this past Friday due to the accident near our school on South B Street. Your patience and understanding were both greatly appreciated. Individuals in the accident were transported to be checked at the ER, but all were okay. We are very thankful for this!
Thanks to the great group who joined me for Principal’s Chat this past Friday. It was great having such a well-attended event. We will have another one on Tuesday, November 29th at 8:15 a.m. Always know that I am just an e-mail or phone call away. However, these Principal’s Chats are a great time for conversations, questions, and updates.
Any parent, guardian or grandparent who has volunteer training and a current background check may accompany us on the field trip to Clemson University for Education Day next Monday. Please be sure to let your child’s classroom teacher know of your interest in going. We have plenty of space (both on the buses and at Littlejohn Coliseum) for all who would like to go with us. Your child’s teacher will confirm that all who request to attend have a current background check and training. We’ll have field trip badges for all who join us printed for Monday with each classroom teacher. We plan to depart at 9:30 a.m. Those who wish to volunteer as a chaperone, please plan to arrive no later than 9:15 a.m. so that you can load the buses with us. We are very excited about having this opportunity again!
Please review the updated calendar included with this edition of East End Elementary News for events and activities. All Pro Dads, coordinated by Rev. Artis Bufford and Mr. Chad McMahan, will start on November 18th at 7:00 a.m. Breakfast items and drinks (coffee for the adults and juice for the students) will be provided for all who attend. Entrance to the All Pro Dad Breakfast each month will be through the gate off East 2nd Avenue between the cafeteria and media center. Rev. Bufford and Mr. McMahan were coordinators for us prior to COVID protocols and are eager to begin again. Watch for more details in upcoming newsletters.
Here’s to a wonderful week!

A Message From Officer Samuel Byers, EEE"s School Resource Officer
Officer Samuel L. Byers Introduction
I wanted to take a brief moment and introduce myself and give some insight into my background. I am a single parent of one son and he is a blessing to my life. I am a native to Pickens and a 1992 graduate from Lugoff-Elgin High School and I graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in May 2003. For nineteen years and seven months, I served as an officer for the Pickens Police Department, in which, I served in various capacities, including Road Patrol Officer, Investigator, Interim Chief and School Resource Officer.
Recently, I accepted a position with the Easley Police Department as School Resource Officer at East End Elementary. I feel that my life experiences will help me to be an example to lead and guide our children in making smart choices in life. I look forward to helping promote a positive and safe learning environment for the students.
I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the East End Bulldog family and look forward interacting with the students. If you know of any student that has any needs, please feel free to reach out to me. I am here to help in any way that I can.
