"Super Miles" Green Day

HVES declared Tuesday, November 26 as "Super Miles" day. The school went all out and wore green to support Miles who has been battling cancer for 3 years. Thank you everyone who helped bring happiness to Miles. He loved seeing everyone wearing green. Want to thank the Hope Valley/Wyoming Fire Department for bringing the ladder truck to take an aerial picture of the school in the shape of an "M" for Miles. This was so incredible. Check out the link for a bunch of pictures that were taken throughout today!

Grade 2 Reading Project

The students in Mrs. Mello's class, with the help of Mrs. Pastore and Miss Girton, learned about non-fiction text features while incorporating the social studies theme of Pilgrims. After learning about aspects of the Pilgrim life students worked in groups concentrating on a particular topic. They then wrote 1 or 2 sentences in the first person about it was like to be a pilgrim. Students then reported out what they learned in front of a green screen. Checkout the video they created by clicking on the link. It is adorable.

Canned Food Drive

Once again, HVES went above and beyond to bring in canned food goods for the needy in November. I can't thank you enough for your generosity. Hope Valley School came in second place out of all the Chariho schools with a ratio of 4.7 cans per student. That is amazing! I'll say it again that we are the smallest school with the biggest heart!

Hope Valley School Blog

KICKING IT WITH THE ARTS! That is the name of our new school blog related to all the projects at Hope Valley School. Mrs. Girton and I will maintain this blog for now but after winter break the hope is to get some 4th grade students to lead this blog. Check it out by clicking in the link. You can read about some of our school projects and recent cultural assembly last week. Enjoy!

Online Book Party

The PTO is “hosting” an online book party with Usborne Books and More (UBAM). All host rewards will go back to the school for Mrs Ward (our librarian) and Mrs Pastore (our reading specialist) to determine what the school’s needs are. If the “party” reaches $250 in sales the school will get HALF of the total sales worth of free products!!!

Over the next couple of weeks our consultant Joyce will be highlighting some of the many products available. Please share our event and link and encourage friends and family to browse the catalog. There is something for everyone and more than just books too!!!!

The party will close on December 11th so that all orders can be processed and shipped directly to your door in plenty of time for the holidays.

If you need help with anything, feel free to reach out to Joyce and she will be happy to assist.

Gingerbread Express

To help brighten the holidays, Chariho schools will once again offer assistance to families whose children attend school in our district. If your family could use assistance this holiday season, please contact Lynn Larned at Hope Valley by November 26th at 401-315-2826.
