Mrs. Stevenson's Message
Dear Parents:
Welcome to another month! It is already February and lots of exciting things are happening at South Creek! Our Cookies and Canvas event is coming up a week from this Friday night and it is a perfect time for students and their parents to spend a fun evening being creative together. This event sold out very quickly. We are looking forward to seeing everyones artwork.
Our student council is selling candy grams this month to raise funds for the organization called “Vets Helping Heroes”. The kids have already raised the money for the Riley Foundation and I am proud of their many accomplishments this year. The Robotics club has a couple competitions this month and we are excited about the progress they have made after just two years in existence.
We just completed our middle of the year DIBELS testing. Teachers will be sharing this data with you. Our staff and students are preparing for ISTEP+ Part I which begins on February 26, 2018. As we get closer to testing, grade level testing schedules will be shared.
My time as the principal at South Creek is winding down. I am so grateful for the support and kindness I have been shown these past 7 years from both my staff and parents. I am looking forward to my transition to Central Office and being the Chief Academic Officer, Elementary., but I will still miss my SC family.

Gator Gram Sale
South Creek Student Council is sponsoring a Gator Gram Sale to support
Vets Helping Heroes. This organization is dedicated to providing assistance dogs for active duty military and retired Veterans recovering from the physical and psychological challenges they suffer as a result of their service to our country. Donations help to raise and train a guide, therapy, or service dog. These dogs can help our heroes live again with dignity and self-reliance. Please support this organization by purchasing Gator Grams!
The sale will run from February 5th- 9th with delivery on February 14th.
Gator Grams may be sent to any South Creek student or staff member. Parents and students may purchase a Gator Gram by filling out an order form (being sent home this Friday, February 2nd.) Be sure to include first AND last name of recipient. Sender must also include who it is from. Please print clearly! Cost is $1 for each Gram order and may be returned to your classroom teacher or to the front office.
Additional order forms are available in the office or on the South Creek Website: www.ftcsc.k12.in.us/south-creek/news/
School Spelling Bee - Abby
You may have heard that in January there was a spelling bee and it was 4th and 5th grade. I was with Morgan Case and she made it to the spelling bee she was sorta surprised that she made it in her class. She said she made second and she was looking on the positive side and said she was glad that she made the spelling bee that far. Morgan says that keep practicing because even though she didn’t take it you can.

History of Valentine's Day - Morgan
The history of Valentine's Day starts with it’s creator...St. Valentine! In Rome, Italy the ruler Claudius the second needed soldiers for his army so he forbade everyone to get married. Well St. Valentine thought that was wrong so he secretly married couples. One day Claudius found out and put St. Valentine in jail. On Feb. 14 St.Valentine was killed and so we have Valentines Day.
