Computer lab by macallan and Keagan
Welcome to 3M the wolf pack!!Last week we were in the computer lab and our teacher showed us the directions. We were making Halloween arrays on the computer. An array has rows with an equal amount of things in each row. They help us with multiplication.
First we went to a white screen . Then you will click insert and go to clip art and then you type in anything halloweenish for example ghosts or pumpkins. Then you click control c to copy. Then ctrl v to paste. Then you move the pictures to make an array. After that press insert and press text box then you can type your number model like 3x2=6. You just learned how to make an array on the computer. Isn’t it easy ??
Cursive by Hannah and Jude
Did you know that there’s another way to write the alphabet? CURSIVE!!!
When we started we had a packet that had all the loop letters that are in cursive. For example: l,h,f,and e! Before we write in our packet, we write the letter in the sky. Then we trace the big letter with our fingers first, then we write in our packet. The first day we worked on the loop letter L. By the way, we are just doing lower case loop letters. When you write L, you have to start at the grass line and curve up to the sky line and loop back down to the grass line and make a tail.
We also learned about the letter E. The letter E is written like l except you curve up to the plane line then loop down and make a tail.
We have also learned about the letter F! The letter F is written like this!!( see below)
We have also learned about the letter i. The way to write the letter is you start at the grass line and then curve up to the plane line and swerve back down to the grass line and make a dot.
And how you make h is like this. First you start at the grass line curve up to the sky line, curve back down to the grass line, and make a hump then make a tail.
So what is your favorite type of letter to write? Hope you have a fun time learning cursive!!!
Scarecrows by Tucker and Tyler F.
Do you like making scarecrows? In October, our class went outside to fill our
scarecrow. We made Abraham Lincoln. He had a pumpkin head that Rivy drew. We used old clothes - an old t-shirt and a sports jacket. He had a dirty beard and a top hat.
We played soccer after we stuffed the scarecrow. There were 6-7 goalies the rest of the kids were shooting at them. Ms. Massara joined in. We had apple cider and pretzels at the end. It was very fun.
Writing Celebration By Claire and Miya
Today was a special day because all of the 3rd graders had a Writing Celebration! Mrs. Smith’s class, Mrs. Adams class, and our class all shared our writing stories. We were so excited to share our stories with the other classes!! We were put into groups of 3 to read our stories. Then we made comments about their reading. We just finished our first writing unit so we wanted to share our hard work with them. We think our hard work was worth it! We learned so many new things this year so far in writing. We made a heart of our story which is the part where you slow down and stretch it out. It is usually the most important or exciting part of the story. We learned how to add talk to our story. That is called dialogue. We also learned how to include transition words like after that, a little while later, then, next, and finally. We can’t wait to learn more!

Science Investigation # 2 By Esme and Anna
Have you ever wondered how water flows on a slope?
In science we tested water on a slope! The bigger the water dome is, the faster the water will go and the smaller the dome, the slower it will go down the slope. The steeper the slope the water will go faster. These are the key words we learned: 1. dome -a dome is a big bubble on a waterproof surface. 2. gravity-gravity pulls things down. For example, when water is on a slope gravity pulls the water down the slope. 3. move - move is another word for action. For example, water moves down a slope. 4. direction - a direction is North, West, East, South. This science investigation was wet and fun!

Stone Fox by Bennett and Reid
Have you ever felt like you were in a book? Because 3M did! We just finished reading the book Stone Fox. The class really enjoyed it! The book is about grandfather, Little Willy, and Searchlight their dog. Grandfather is really sick and doesn't want to live anymore because he owes $500 in taxes. This was a lot of money back then. He didn’t pay taxes for the farm in ten years. His grandson Little Willy wanted to help, so he tired to sell the potato crops but didn't make enough money. Then Willy saw a poster for dog sled race and decided to get in. If he won he would get $500 dollars. He risked losing his college money to enter the race which was 50 dollars. Little Willy had to race against Stone Fox who never lost a race. ln the race Stone Fox was going really slow then he made his move. He past the opponents one by one.
Then Stone Fox was head to head with Willy and Searchlight. Stone Fox was a nose in front of Searchlight. They kept getting in front then behind but then Searchlight’s heart burst since she’s really old. Stone Fox stopped the other racers and let Willy cross the finish line holding Searchlight.Everybody froze. We were all sad and so were we!
Halloween projects by Josie and Nick
Have you ever heard of monster-plication? We will tell you all about it! We did a project where we made a multiplication monster. We used scrap paper to make the arms and the legs. We also used construction paper to make the body and used googly eyes to make arrays. An array has rows with a certain number in each row. For a 3 x 2 array there are 3 rows with 2 in each row. We used the arms and legs to show different strategies for multiplication.
Another thing we did was haunted house writing and haunted house pictures. We watched a video how to draw a haunted house. They turned out to be awesome. We wrote a paragraph to try to see our haunted house. Some of us wanted to sell our house to a ghost. We used spooky words to describe our haunted house.
It was so fun to make all of this awesome stuff. I hope you want to live in this haunted house.
Harlem Globe Trotters By Will and Zanny
This Month we met the greatest basketball team, The Harlem Globetrotters. Do you know what they do? They are professional basketball players who do a lot of tricks. They are tall and strong.
In the assembly, we saw them dribbling basketballs and doing tricks.
They talked to us about why you should not bully. After that we did a game “1 clap, 2 clap, half clap.” If we did not clap when he said, “Half clap” the Globetrotter would dunk the ball, but we always clapped on the half clap.
They brought kids and teachers up to form a circle. The Globetrotters taught the kids and teachers to do some tricks to pass the ball like hitting it off their heads, bottoms, and doing the floss and Hype while passing the ball to each other.
The Harlem Globetrotters were really cool and fun to watch!
