Students Drivers and Family Transportation Information
District Bussing
Please be aware that buses may run late the first few days of school as we learn end of day procedures and ensure students are getting to where they need to be. You can track your bus this year by downloading the FirstView app and entering the code 6PD6.
First Student (General busing questions): (651) 388 - 8244
Transportation (Bus routing): (651) 385 - 4795
Afternoon Busses from RWHS
Busses will be parked in the circle, only half the busses come to the high school, so students riding a bus can get on any bus in the circle in the afternoon. Once busses are at the middle school high school students need to transfer to the correct bus number. Your bus may not be at the high school, so again jump on any bus and transfer at the middle school where the remaining busses will already be set-up.
Student Parking Passes
Students with a parking permit will continue to park in the north lot between the main building and the ice arena. Please be sure to get a permit and sign the paperwork in the main office if you have not already completed this during registration last Thursday.
Student Arrival and Departure Traffic Routes
Please note the image below for morning arrivals and afternoon departures.
Buses will now be using Red Wing High School's front loop. Anyone dropping off a student will use the back loop, traveling counterclockwise. The change is effect the first day of classes.
This shift will make busing more efficient as well as expedite connections to pick up Twin Bluff Middle School students.
Note that buses will have priority when arriving and departing. The traffic lane from the student parking lot to Eagle Ridge Drive will be gated off during bus times, so motorists will need to wait.
Nutrition Services News
Each student may eat one breakfast and one lunch per school day free of charge.
We encourage families to complete the Application for Educational Benefits. Qualifying families may then receive benefits such as reduced activity fees, help with education expenses and some discounts. Please note that students who receive Medicaid or Medicare benefits are automatically enrolled. Start the process by creating your account at www.schoolcafe.com/register.
Red Wing Public Schools has switched to SchoolCafé. All funds from a student's former PayPams account have been moved to the new system, according to Student Nutrition Services Director Jess Peña. Since breakfast and lunch will be served free of charge this year, funds in an account may be used to purchase ala carte items, including milk for those students who bring lunch from home.
All students will need accounts regardless. This is because Student Nutrition Services must verify to federal and state agencies that free meals actually go to students.
After going through the cafeteria line, students will enter their new pin number, which also is their existing student identification number.
Families will need to visit www.schoolcafe.com and follow the prompts to create an account.
Don't know your student's I.D. number? You will find it in StudentVue and ParentVue, on past report cards and on student badges.
If you have questions, email or call Jess Peña at japana@rwps.org or 651-385-4583.
Families can deposit money by online payment or send cash or check to the school their child attends. Checks should be written to ISD 256. Checks should also contain the student’s full name on the memo line. The check can be written for multiple students. If doing this, please note this on the check.
Learn more at www.schoolcafe.com.
RWHS Food Pantry
We know that a full tummy means a brain that's ready to learn! Thanks to generous donations from our community, RWHS has a food pantry accessible to ALL students grades 8-12. Students can leave school with a very discreet bag of food or personal care items to take home to their family-for free. There are no restrictions on who can use this or how many times.
Contact the nurse, your counselor or a teacher to sign up.
You may also email nurse Vikki at vlleclaire@rwps.org.
