Wishing you all the Happiest of Thanksgivings!
I am grateful for your kids. They make me smile and even laugh out loud with their thoughts and actions. They are kind, hard working people. They advocate for themselves and try to do their best daily. I am thankful to be working with them as they learn to their highest level each day. May God bless you all!
2nd Grade
This week we started our unit on Time. Students reviewed telling time to the hour and half hour from first grade. This week we learned to tell time to the nearest 5 minutes. We used analog clocks during class to tell time, and we drew hands on the clock to match a given time. In addition, we learned to describe time as quarter past, half past, and a quarter till the hour. Students struggled with the last concept. Please review and practice telling time with quarters, so that they may be more fluent when we return from our Thanksgiving break.
When we return from break, we will begin working with line plots.
Please take out work from math folders that has been graded already.
4th Grade
This week we learned to add and subtract fractions and mixed numbers with models. We reviewed converting improper fractions to mixed numbers and converting mixed numbers to improper fractions. We analyzed word problems with fractions and mixed numbers.
Next week, we will add/subtract fractions and mixed numbers by using the algorithm. We will have a daily grade on Wednesday, Dec. 4th. On Friday afternoon, we will take the District Assessment during math.
Please clean out math folders.
5th Grade
This week we learned to add and subtract decimals with number lines and base ten blocks. Then we learned the algorithm for adding and subtracting decimals. Students will need to remember to line up decimals and their place value positions to add or subtract decimals. When we return from break, students will review decimal concepts.
We will have our test on decimals by Wednesday, Dec. 4th.
Please clean out math folders.
Housekeeping
Many students have filled up their first math journal. They will need a new math journal. I have given all of my extra math journals to students. Please make sure that your student has a new math journal if they need one. I do have some extra folders, if students need a new one. Thank you so much for all of your support.
