2015 marks the 12th year of a unique and remarkable partnership of Greensboro Public Library and Guilford County Schools in recognizing and encouraging the writing and appreciation of poetry by High School students. This year 18 schools participated in this county-wide poetry contest. Each school holds a local contest, and then submits finalists for selection of a Poet Laureate. The finalists submissions were judged and a Poet Laureate was selected for each school by Stuart Dischell, who teaches poetry writing as well as modern and contemporary poetry at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is the author of four collections of poems.
This year, the High School Poet Laureate contest has been renamed in honor of one of the founding supporters, Marilyn Miller.
This evening, two of our poets will share their poetry:

Please make sure to finalize all library inventories by the end of June. Our catalogs are terribly bloated due to the fact that lost copies are counting in our copy count. I an unable to delete the lost copies from each school until any old or current inventories are finalized. If we are able to clean up our catalogs it will increase the opportunity for us to ask for money for more resources.
- If you DID NOT start the inventory in Destiny and are NOT sure if you have completed the inventory, please click "Finalize" and "Ignore them. (DON'T mark them "lost") See image below.
- If you DID start the inventory and are sure you have scanned everything then click "Mark all unaccounted for copies "lost".
- Once all inventories are finalized then you will be able to view lost copies and select a date range to delete all lost copies. We recommend deleting all lost copies prior to June 2013
If you have any questions, we will cover this in the May PLC.
