The Mustang Minute
October 5, 2018 - Issue 5
Busy as Bees!
When students are involved in after school activities they are more likely to attend school with regularity, perform better academically, and are more engaged with school in general. We have so many different opportunities for students after school, there is truly something for everyone!
Intramural sports sign up started this week with floor hockey and basketball. The $30 per sport covers the cost of coaches and equipment. Drama club started working on their fall play, the yearbook club has begun to organize, and student council had an informational meeting. Ask your student how they can join in the fun at CMS! We have late buses Monday to Thursday so everyone can participate!
We were so excited at the number of families that joined us at McDonald's on Tuesday. We don't know how much we raised yet, but it was a great way to start off the year. Our PTO works incredible hard to set up these events. the next meeting is Thursday October 11th at 6:30 pm. The more parents we have involved the more we can do for our schools!
You may have seen that a few of our teachers put up "Donor's Choose" sites in order to acquire alternative and flexible seating for students. I am happy to announce that both were funded before the end of this week! I will be sure to share pictures when the new furniture is all set up and ready to go!
It is a beautiful fall day and it looks to be a gorgeous weekend! I hope everyone enjoys the extra time with their families!
Washington DC Parent Meeting
I’m pleased to announce that we will be continuing the tradition of the Washington D.C. trip that was such a great success at Coakley Middle School last year! This is a great opportunity for your eighth grader to see their class lessons come to life in our nation’s capital. It is also a chance for them to discover more about the world—as well as themselves.
We will be traveling with EF Explore America, the world’s largest private educational organization. With nearly 50 years of experience, their unparalleled resources and expertise have helped millions of students step out of their comfort zones and into the world around them.
I will be hosting the enrollment meeting on Tuesday, October 9th at 6:30 pm, in the auditorium. We will be joined by a representative from EF Explore America to answer any questions you may have, so I hope you will be able to come and learn more.
We will have information available for anyone that cannot attend.
