Save on Foods: A Dedicated SWH Supporter and Community Partner!
Did you know that Save On Foods on Wye Road partners with the school (in a variety of ways; they're a great support).
One of those ways is a quick and easy fundraising program. You don't need to buy anything special or flog friends to buy anything - I promise!!
If you shop at that particular store, then simply save your receipt and send it to the school (or send a bunch if you want to save some up). We then compile them and take them back to Save On and they go through them and write us a cheque for 5% of the total.
Last year, they wrote us cheques for over $5000! We used that money to buy Lego Robotics kits, portable bleachers, rock/gem equipment for art and a staff appreciation lunch.
This year, the Leadership option students are going to help us with the program and we hope to provide you with more regular updates about how much we've raised and what we've spent.
The school holds the money as School Council does not have a bank account, but we decide in partnership how to spend it! So, grab those receipts and ask anyone you know to save them for you too.
This is an ongoing fundraiser and so there is no time limit. Just send them in as you wish!
School Council - Staff Recognition Program
2022-2023 School Fees will be posted before the end of September
School fees for the 2022-2023 school year are posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted. Throughout the year, fees are often added to cover the costs for various activities, such as field trips, extracurricular activities, and late, damaged or lost textbooks.
To access your fee information, simply log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and go to “Student Fees.” There you can view fees and pay them online using a credit card. Make sure to monitor your child’s account on an ongoing basis.
For more information about school fees, waivers and payment deadlines, visit eips.ca/schools/fees. And, if you have questions, think there is an error or need help creating a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, contact your child’s school directly.
NOTE: Pursuant to Board Policy 23: School Fees and Administrative Procedure 505: School and Administrative Fees, EIPS will forward any unpaid 2021-22 fee amounts to a collection agency. To prevent this from happening, remember to pay your fees before August 31, 2022.
2022-2023 Yearbooks can be purchased on Parent Portal!
Please be sure to login to PowerSchool/Parent Portal to pre-order and pay for your 2022-2023 Sherwood Heights yearbook!
Career Pathways
Canteen Volunteers (Updated Oct 21)
Volunteering for shifts in our SWH Canteen with Mrs. Braun is an excellent way to help prepare our students for the world of work. These opportunities help students build confidence, increase skill range, and feel successful as they work towards entering post-secondary or the workforce.
Canteen Menu
Our canteen is now open with a variety of fun foods and snacks to purchase. We also have brought back the use of microwaves in the hallways during the first half of lunch. We ask that students wait in line patiently and be respectful with your peers and the microwaves.
Take Our Kids to Work Day 2022 (Gr.9)
Take Our Kids to Work Day will be held on Wednesday, November 2.
This year, students, their parents, educators, schools and workplaces will have access to a diverse range of options including pre-recorded virtual content to supplement the exciting learning experiences being made available by employers across Canada.
There are more ways than ever for everyone to take part in this exciting day. Some of the possibilities include:
- Students can participate in Take our Kids to Work Day hosted by their parent's employer (in-person or virtually).
- Teachers can lead students through a virtual Take Our Kids to Work Day, including activities included in the Educator's Guide, during the school day.
- Students can participate in virtual Take Our Kids to Work Day events from home.
This event has been designed with educators in mind. We want Take our Kids to Work 2022 to be easy, flexible and relevant for you and your students.

EIPS Student Voice (Gr. 5, 8, 11)
Monday, December 5
10:00am - 1:30pm
Strathcona County Agora
On December 5, EIPS is hosting Student Voice for Gr. 5, 8, & 11 students to gather perspectives on student engagement and diversity, equity and inclusion. An email will follow to principals with specific criteria details, the anticipated schedule and a registration link.
With the winter season almost here, we want to remind families to dress children appropriately for the weather when getting ready for school or the bus. The weather often changes unexpectedly throughout the day, so please select suitable outerwear and ensure your child is prepared for changing conditions.
If inclement weather conditions occur, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) advises families of any bus cancellations using various communications tools—automated-telephone messages, alerts posted on www.eips.ca and school websites, Twitter, Facebook, local radio stations, and notification through both the Bus Status and the Ride 360 apps. Morning bus cancellations are posted on www.eips.ca by 6:30 a.m.
Decisions regarding bus cancellations are guided by EIPS administrative procedures that state, “school bus service may be suspended…when there is a forecast or current temperature of -40 C, including wind chill factor, in one or more regions.” Other reasons for suspending or delaying school bus services include adverse weather and poor road conditions. When school bus services are suspended, schools remain open to students. EIPS believes families have the right and responsibility to make choices for their children based on their beliefs and perceptions of safety during times of inclement weather.
For more information, contact EIPS Student Transportation at 780-417-8151.
