Joyceville PS Week Ahead

December 7-11

Cultivating Critical Thinking and Creativity for ALL students in Responsive Learning Environments

As we head into the busy Holiday Season, I encourage you all to pace yourselves and enjoy this time with your students, family, friends and each other. I feel remarkably grateful to work with such a talented, caring group of people! I continue to be impressed every day by the thoughtful things you do for our students - meeting their academic, emotional and social needs in so many ways.

At this time of year, I am reminded that the weeks leading up to the holiday can be a struggle for students who unfortunately do not look forward to spending time out of school. The safety, structure, security and socialization that you provide are missed by those for whom the holidays are not as enjoyable as we might hope. In a strange and ironic way, the negative behaviors that some students demonstrate at this time actually acknowledge the consistency and the caring atmosphere that your classroom and our school provides for them. Step back and reflect a bit - this may be the best "backhanded compliment" that you will ever receive.
