Independent Lessons- Our independent lessons are set aside so that teachers can help support small groups of students with their learning. It is the expectation that students remain in class during the independent lesson when asked by the teacher. Our teachers are noticing that students are leaving the zoom even though they are told to stay. In these instances, our teachers will be marking students as absent to alert our staff and parents that a student left class without permission. Please help us and remind your student to stay in the independent lesson when asked by the teacher as we are working hard to support student learning.
Monday Mandatorial Attendance- Our teachers at IVA use the Monday Mandatorial to support students in their learning. Students can be referred to Mandatorial by their teacher, counselor, or administrator. Parents will be notified by email if a referral has been made. We appreciate your support and help in ensuring that your student attends if requested by an IVA Staff Member. You will see Mandatorial as a class on your students schedule in Aeries, and attendance will be taken during this time. Please click HERE for the schedule.

8th Grade Family Night (April 14th):
Hello, Class of 2025!! On Wednesday evening, April 14, University High School will have our annual family night for incoming freshmen and their families. Normally, family night is an energizing, fun, and inspirational time for incoming freshmen and their parents to get to know a little bit more about University High School. We know you have questions about classes to take, activities on campus, clubs to join, sports , drama, music… the list goes on. Although we cannot duplicate everything an on-campus and in-person family night has to offer, we can offer you the virtual excitement and activity of all the things that make UHS a special place.
So, starting at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, April 14, you can log onto the school website. There, we will have a family night homepage with links to all of the elements you would normally see at a Family Night.
· Introduction and Welcome from the Administrative team
· Incoming Student Packet
· Club, On-Campus Organization, and Athletics Information Fair
· Counseling Presentation: (This is asynchronous. However, there is a “live” Q&A on 4/22 via Zoom). Counseling will have the answers to how to register.
· Student Activity Video
· …And new this year! Meeting of the Masters! There will be specific live break out rooms on Zoom for incoming freshmen to get upperclassmen perspectives on UHS programs.
University is a special place where young people can grow, find and pursue their passions, and have new experiences. We encourage you to make time to log on together and explore all that University High School has to offer. We want you to FIND YOUR FIT! Our website is https://universityhigh.iusd.org/. However, we will be sending a link directly to the Family Night homepage by Wednesday morning, April 14. The page will remain on the UHS website through June, so if you can’t participate on April 14, you will be able to access the information after the fact. However, some information is time sensitive (i.e. registration for classes) and should be viewed as close to April 14 as possible. We really hope to “see” you there.
