Mary Seacole
Mary Seacole was born in 1805 in Jamaica. She is famous for helping British soldiers during the Crimean war. When the battles were happening Mary gave everyone food, blankets, clean clothes and kindness. The soldiers called her Mother Seacole. She first visited Britain as a young woman and later she ran a hotel in Panama. She isn't very well known as people such as Florence Nightingale but we still remember her because she did many things Victorian women didn't do for example she ran a business. She went to a war. If people refused to help her, perhaps because of racial prejudice, she still did what she believed was right. She risked her life to help others. She was an extreamly influential woman.
