TERM DATES
Please check the community calendar for upcoming and future dates as the calendar is regularly updated.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents,
It has been another busy fortnight at Padbury Catholic, and as we head towards the end of Term 2 there are even more exciting events ahead! There is definitely a wonderful buzz in the air as our students continue to engage in the curriculum within their classrooms, as well as participating in a range of other events taking place both inside and outside of Padbury Catholic.
First Communion
This coming weekend our Year 4 students will make their First Holy Communion at OLM Parish, over 2 masses on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Please keep these students in your prayers as this special sacrament approaches. Thank you to Mrs Quaid, Ms Bubnich and Mrs Babac for preparing the students so wonderfully throughout this year.
Father's Day
On Friday of last week we celebrated our PCPS fathers with a delicious breakfast at school organised by the P&F. It was a huge turnout and by all reports the food was delicious! Thank you to Lan Nguyen and her group of parent helpers for coordinating this very special event. Our Pre-Primary classes also presented a wonderful assembly sharing the many, many reasons they love their dads and entertaining us with a fun song! Thank you Pre-Primary students and teachers!
Reach out with Love Project
This year our Reach out with Love Project focused on Wheelchairs for Kids. Last week volunteers for Wheelchairs for Kids came out to speak with the students and then the students were able to complete, in teams, laps of the basketball court in the wheelchairs and raise money for this worthy cause. This was an unbelievably successful fundraiser, with PCPS families raising a grand total of $9,573.70!! This is incredible! Thank you for your wonderful generosity in supporting this year's Reach out with Love Project. Wheelchair for Kids will come out at the end of the term to explain to our students exactly what that money will do for their organisation. Thank you particularly to Mrs Woodall for her coordination of this project.
Extra Curricular Activities
Performing Arts
At Padbury Catholic we offer a wide range of extra curricular activities for students to engage in. Recently we have had a range of students participating in the Catholic Performing Arts Festival. We have had choirs, solo musicians and a Year 6 drama group all perform. All performers received wonderful feedback and should be proud of their efforts. You can read more about this further in the Newsletter. Thank you to Mrs Twine, Mrs Bastow and Mrs Barry for working with and coordinating our students and their performances.
Tournament of Minds (TOM)
On Saturday 27th August, our Language Literature TOM team performed in their challenge at ECU Joondalup. The team worked very well together and after the judging took place, the team were awarded with Honors! Congratulations to these students and their teachers. Thank you to Mrs Bottega and Mrs Woodall for their help in preparing the team for this challenge!
Year 6 Camp
Year 6 camp was held this week from Tuesday-Friday. Whilst it was a mix of weather, with a mix of some rain, sunshine and chilly temps, it was still a wonderful experience as always, with our students enjoying activities such as team building, flying fox, ultimate sports, first aid, vertical challenge and geocaching. Students and staff had a wonderful time and I was so impressed with the way the Year 6 students challenged themselves and conquered some of their fears, as well as displaying wonderful camaraderie and behaviour. Camp truly is one of the most special events in the calendar for our Year 6 students, and this year was no different! Thank you to Mrs Barry, Mrs Woodall and Mr Hignett, as well as Mrs Bastow and Mrs Hutcheson, for giving up time away from their families to spend time at camp with us. It truly is appreciated, and camp could not happen without the planning, dedication and enthusiasm of these staff members who have gone above and beyond.
Exciting Upcoming Events
As we enter the final two weeks of Term Three, we look forward to our Athletics Carnivals, EduDance Concerts and Mercy Week activities! Please see further down in the Newsletter for important information regarding EduDance concerts.
On the final day of Term, Friday 23rd September, we will have our special Mercy Awards Assembly. This will commence at 2:00pm. At this assembly we will also farewell Mrs Hutcheson, who leaves us at the end of this term to commence her new consultant role at CEWA at the start of Term 4.

EduDance
Our Edu-Dance concerts are fast approaching!
The first concert will take place on Tuesday, 13th of September for classes PPP, 1B, 2PH, 3B, 4Q, 5C and 6B
Our second concert will take place on Thursday, 15th of September for classes PPM, 1W, 2V, 3H, 4B, 5R and 6WvB
All concerts start at 2:20pm sharp in the Hall.
On the day of the concerts, the school oval will be open at 1.50pm for parking and 2 teachers will direct traffic on the oval. Please do not arrive earlier than this as children will be playing on the oval.
We ask families not to use the staff carpark and to leave the parking straight outside Administration for elderly people and those with ACROD stickers. You can always drop your family members off and then proceed down to the oval to park your vehicle.
The doors to the hall will not open until just before 2:20pm. From 1:50pm onwards, you are asked to assemble in a queue in the undercover area and after all the children are seated in the hall, one of the doors to the foyer will be opened and 20 people at a time will enter and be seated, under the guidance of the teachers. There will be teachers in the undercover area to facilitate this.
We hope you enjoy our 2022 Edu-Dance Concerts!

Uniform Shop Update
The Uniform Committee, in conjunction with the PCPS Advisory Council, have been reviewing the Uniform Shop's pricing. Our uniform shop prices have remained the same and not increased since 2019 at Padbury Catholic.
As with all industries throughout the world over the past few years, production and freight costs of uniform items has increased exponentially in the last few years. As such, to ensure the Uniform Shop remains viable, there will need to be an increase in uniform shop items.
An updated price list is now available on our school website at this link - https://www.padcath.wa.edu.au/school-uniform
