LWTech Career Services
Fall 2022 NEWSLETTER
Name Change
The LWTech Employment Resource Center has undergone rebranding to a new name which is now LWTech Career Services (CS). Our services will remain the same, but we feel our updated name reflects that we offer more than "employment services. We also offer career exploration and assessments to help with career and educational decision making.
It will take a few months to finalize all the name change updates, but our new email is now Career.Services@LWTech.edu and our webpages have been updated to reflect this. Our telephone number is the same and is (425) 739-8113.
Stay tuned for more information on a huge LWTech Career Services launch party during Winter Quarter which will be held on campus, to promote Career Services and celebrate Winter Quarter!
CAREER CORNER WITH MARY
Planning to Succeed!
By: Mary Powers - LWTech Career Center Coordinator
The popular quote, "If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail" is truer than ever. We created the Career Readiness Plan to provide you with a checklist of steps you can take to make sure you are preparing to find your dream job - even if you are just starting your program.
The Plan includes different services you can access to work toward becoming career-ready. For example, in the early stages of your program you can sign up for Career Exploration with Career Services through the Career Choice Workshop or a 1:1 appointment, draft a resume and continue adding skills and experiences as you progress through your program of study, and create a free LinkedIn Profile. A little later in your program, closer to your graduation date, you can start practicing interviewing with a Career Specialist to get feedback and meet with us to get answers about which job search platforms and additional resources to use for your industry for best results. Each appointment for each service usually lasts an hour and we can check off the items on your plan as you complete them!
You can find the Career Readiness Plan in the free Canvas course Career Strategies (self-enroll and get immediate access) or make an appointment with us, and we can show you how to access the plan and start working on the steps. This is a great way to plan to succeed and make the most of the services we offer to you while you are at LWTech.

STUDENT TESTIMONIAL
"My entire resume review experience with you, brought me out of a feeling of 'I don't know what to say about myself that makes me special' to a new level of confidence with 'Wow! I actually feel pretty proud of myself.' Putting the achievements into the template you suggested (especially having to come up with a quantifiable result) helped me gain a better idea of who I am and where I want to go."
