March 9, 2023 | CTE Teachers, FREE CTE Pathway Certification Vouchers
The CTE Advisory Board awarded grant funds to purchase Industry Based Certification vouchers for CTE teachers. These vouchers will allow CTE teachers in the Agribusiness, Animation, Applied Agriculture Engineering, Business Management, Media Technology and Web Development pathways to prep and take the exams for free. This is another tool for these CTE teachers to prepare our students to pass the Industry Based Certifications that are aligned to their chosen career pathway.
Vouchers will be distributed on a first come first serve basis!!!

This multi-step process begins with Leader Talent Identification, followed by Candidate Matching, and culminates with Selection.

March 22, 2023 | Last day to Submit: Women’s History Month: She Persisted Essay Contest
Students grades Pre-Kindergarten through twelve have the opportunity to participate in an essay contest for Women’s History Month. The essay contest, based off the children’s book, She Persisted: 13 American Women Who Changed the World, provides students the opportunity to write about a woman of their choice who changed the world.
Students are to write an essay that contains the individual’s historical impact as well as a personal reflection. Essays should be turned in to the campus Library Media Specialist for submission.
There are 4 winning categories by grade band:
Pre-Kindergarten through Second
Third through Fifth
Sixth through Eighth
Ninth through Twelfth
Submission Window: February 27, 2023 – March 22, 2023
The winner from each category will be awarded a trophy, a Kindle tablet, other prizes, and recognition at the April Board Meeting.

Spring ISD is partnering with Sam Houston State University to grow leaders and strengthen our leadership pipeline!
Sam Houston is seeking teacher leaders in Spring ISD who are interested in obtaining their M.Ed. degree in Educational Administration with a Principal Certification.
Scholarships & Financial Aid through SHSU: $575 scholarship covering 2 certifications exams to the 1st 20 who complete the application; awarded the semester prior to starting 1st-semester practicum.

5th Grade Math Acceleration Plan
The purpose of the 5th Grade Math Acceleration Plan is to front load the current 5th grade G/T students with 6th grade concepts aligned with the TEKS. This plan also incorporates opportunities for 5th grade students to engage in critical thinking and writing skills through Quick Writes and Free Response Questions.

Performing and Visual Arts: Mandatory District Training Dates and Times for Teachers
Attached is the district-wide PLC calendar for the 2022-2023 school year for all Performing and Visual Arts teachers, directors, and coaches. All trainings are scheduled before or after the school day (or during conference time in the case of high school band) to eliminate the need for substitute teachers. Every effort has been made to avoid pulling staff members from instruction.
