Student Parking
Senior students have first priority for parking spaces. There are only 396 parking spots available. With that in mind, for the upcoming school year, the following procedures will be in place for the assignment of parking spaces:
- Parking in the student parking lot for the first 2 weeks or so will not be assigned and will be first come, first park.
- Starting on Wednesday, September 4, any Senior who would like to have a parking pass must fill out the following form and turn it in to Mr. Westhora in the front office or during both lunches. The form must be submitted by Friday, September 6 before school is over. Only Seniors with a valid driver's license and information about the make/model/license number for any car they might drive to school can apply for a parking pass.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jZ92ThQ1zuXD9CMZmX3zYb0l9WInen695kqUOjMXM4k/edit?usp=sharing - Starting on Tuesday, September 10, all Seniors who submitted their parking application form will then be allowed to purchase their parking pass and will be assigned a parking spot during both lunches. The cost of a parking permit for this school year will be $20, which is in line with other high schools in the area. All parking permits will be attached to a specific numbered parking space.
- Starting on Thursday, September 12, depending on how many Seniors get an assigned parking spot, Juniors may submit a parking agreement form for a possible chance to get a spot as well. Juniors have until Friday, September 13 at the end of the school day to submit the form to Mr. Westhora in the main office or during both lunches. If there are not enough spots for all Juniors who apply, there will be a lottery selection process.
- Starting on Tuesday, September 17, all Juniors who submitted their parking application or were selected from a lottery process will then be allowed to purchase their parking pass and will be assigned a parking spot during both lunches.
- The start of enforcing assigned parking spaces will occur on Wednesday, September 18 after parking spaces have been assigned to Seniors and Juniors. Until that date, student parking will be on a first-come first-served basis, in areas that are specifically designated for student parking.
- Sophomores are not eligible for a parking space.
- Starting on September 18, a waiting list will begin for valid drivers who wish to have a spot in the near future.
Parking permits and spaces may be revoked by Westview at any time, for reasons including but not limited to: poor attendance, violation of student conduct policies, and others.
The Westview Experience / Framework
1. At Westview, I can expect a safe and supportive learning environment where all voices are valued, classroom culture is built on clear expectations, and community is created intentionally.
2. At Westview, I can expect to be challenged, encouraged, and supported by educators who know what I need to do my best.
3. At Westview, I can expect educators to connect with students about personal and academic successes and challenges.
4. At Westview, I can expect to contribute to everyone’s success through interaction and collaboration. (student talk)
5. At Westview, I can expect to have my own curiosity honored and supported through choice in my inquiry and learning.
Westview Hall of Fame
As a part of celebrating our 25th Anniversary we are working on a Westview High School Hall of Fame. You may have seen the display that was put above the trophy case yesterday, but if not I have attached some photos of what it looks like. We need you help in identifying former students, staff, and members of our community that have made a lasting impact on Westview community and beyond.
I have also attached our hall of fame announcement which includes the criteria necessary for a nominee. If you know of anyone who fits this criteria and believe they should be nominated please feel free to reach out to Troy Christianson, Luke Fritz, CJ Hindman, Ronda McKenzie, or Matt Pedersen.
You can nominate someone using the link below:
