Its Time To Meet Dakota Myers

That weird guy who held the sign for College Algebra.

Some people call me a billionaire playboy philanthropist by day and Batman by night, but others call me a liar. Believe what you'd like, I'm simply saying you've never seen me and Batman in the same room at the same time.

Hello ladies and gentlemen

Look at my Major

I'm a Computer Science major, with the hopes of becoming a video game designer one day. Although I do not know anything on how to program a video game, I will eventually! As Shia Labeouf once said, "Don’t let your dreams be dreams. Yesterday you said tomorrow. Make your dreams come true. Just do it."

Now back to me

I'm from Clearwater, home to one of the best beaches on the west coast of Florida. And other than trying to go out and make something worthwhile with my life, I love to play video games and listen to music.

now back to my major

Sadly, your major isn't mine, but if I stopped copying Old Spice's jokes and talked about my major you wouldn't understand why I'm in Excel. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re on a computer reading about the man writing about himself. What’s in your hand? Back to me. I have it, it’s dream to create the that thing you love; whether it be video games or a product to make life easier. Look again, the dreams are now yourself and I working together to achieve our goals. Anything is possible when we're working together in Excel. I'm in your class.¹

Lets Leave the jokes outside for this last bit: Why Choose Excel?

I'm a procrastinator.

I'm working on it now that college has come but I'll get around to it tomorrow. I entered the Excel program on the day Dr. Dagley sent out an email telling students the last day to accept the program was that day. I joined because back during Junior year I was student who was exceptionally skilled in school but never put effort forth. I skated along every class maintaining straight A's, but had nothing to show for it in terms of actual prowess of who I was.

One day I grew sick of doing nothing exceptional with my life.

I went from a nobody known by my small group of friends to winning homecoming court, becoming a varsity cheerleader, learning to backflip, and so much more in life. I went from the person in wrestling who could be winning 12-2 in the last minute and lose, to the person pinning anyone who stepped on the mat. The only people who were beating me where the state and national champions, even then I stood as a worthy adversary.

I learned more that year more than any year of my life since I could walk. Not in the educational world, but in myself. I learned the value of life because the most important person in anyone's life is them self. You might be a person who could take a bullet for any friend, but if you're not willing to take a bullet for yourself then your life isn't being used to its whole potential.

All else, if nothing with my page interests you. Take the time to appreciate the world you're in. College is an astounding place to be and I'm thankful for every second I'm in it. I joined Excel because I wanted the people around me to help me achieve my greatest dreams and I hope I can do the same for you. Thank you

¹Any references to Old Spice are merely coincidental. In no way do I affiliate myself with the company other than to explain why I chose to be in Excel.
