Welcome to the 2020-2021 School Year!
Message From The Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2020-21 school year at Chimacum Elementary. I hope your family is healthy and strong during this very difficult time. As this school year unfolds, we will be continuing to work closely with our local health officials and following state guidance in creating and offering a safe learning experience for all students and staff. We appreciate the support and grace of everyone involved including families, students, and district staff members in embracing new learning models where our students can fully participate in an engaging learning experience during this unprecedented time.
Our priority as a school and district during this pandemic remains the same- to promote a safe, healthy and effective learning environment for all students, increase academic achievement, and use S.T.E.A.M (science, technology, engineering, art & math) as a foundation for unique and powerful learning experiences rooted in our community. Our STEAM mission will continue even during a pandemic.
Chimacum School District has created school models that include a 100% remote option, hybrid in-person blended learning, or the Pi alternative learning program in response to the current pandemic. No matter what model you choose for your child, you will find a local, caring, and qualified Chimacum Elementary staff member dedicated to serving your child.
If you've not already completed our 2020-21 School Choice Model Form, please complete this by Monday, August 31st. Please only complete one form per family. Families that don't indicate a school model choice will be enrolled in one of the hybrid classrooms which feature two days a week of in-person learning and three days remote from home. Priority for placement into the Hybrid cohort A or B will be given to families that have students in other schools in our district. By September 4th, families will be notified of their class placement.
Our school will be communicating with you throughout this school year to keep you up-to-date using Facebook, School Messenger phone/email & text updates, and through the Bloomz classroom communication tool. We will also be using Pick Up Patrol, which is an app that allows families to communicate pick up plans as well as enter the required health screening questions that will be asked each day. We will be communicating with you shortly how to set these programs up once class lists are made.
All of us at Chimacum Elementary look forward to working with you for the success of your student this year, whether you choose our remote or hybrid learning model. We can't wait to connect with our students and are excited to see their smiling faces... whether it is in-person or virtually!
Sincerely,
Mr. Lynch
