MCAS Testing Continues

During the month of April, Grades 5-8 all completed ELA MCAS testing. Our students worked hard and should be proud of their work on these exams!

During the month of May, students will continue MCAS testing in Math and/or Science. The following are the upcoming May testing dates:

  • May 10 and 11: Grade 5 Math
  • May 12 and 13: Grade 6 Math
  • May 17 and 18: Grade 8 Science
  • May 19 and 20: Grade 7 Math
  • May 24 and 25: Grade 5 Science
  • May 26 and 27: Grade 8 Math

In preparation for the upcoming assessments, please note the following:

  • All assessments are taken digitally on student Chromebooks. Students should arrive to school on their testing dates with a fully charged Chromebook. They should have their charger with them in the event their device needs to be recharged.
  • Students should get plenty of sleep the night before their assessments and eat a healthy breakfast prior to arriving at school. Breakfast is available to all students for free from 7:00-7:25 AM.
  • Exams will begin promptly at 7:30 AM. Tardies are disruptive to the testing environment, so students arriving to school after 8 AM will need to makeup their exam on a different day.
  • Makeups will be given for students who are absent on their given testing day.

If you have any questions regarding this year's MCAS administration, please email lhonohan@westportschools.org or your child's respective guidance counselor.

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month and Julie Love's presentation, we ask all WMS students and staff to wear LIME GREEN on Wednesday, May 11.

Public Workshop on Bullying

On Thursday, May 19, WMS building administration will be hosting a public workshop on bullying at 6 PM in the WMHS Auditorium. There will be two presenters for the evening - Christine Leeman of the Bristol County Sheriff's Department and Attorney Colleen Shea of Stoneman, Chandler, and Miller LLP. We encourage parents, guardians, students, and staff to attended this workshop and learn more about bullying and cyberbullying and their impact on the learning environment of schools.
