Happy New School Year

Happy New School Year. Were off to a great start! It has been exciting getting to see all the returning students and meeting those new to Liberty this year. It is our goal to provide a year full of successful experiences for all students. We are getting in the groove of the new school-year. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help maximize your student(s) success.

September Awareness Month

The Sioux City Community School District recognizes that good attendance is essential to academic success. So, we’ve joined a nationwide effort to celebrate Attendance Awareness Month in September. Nationwide, far too many students are at risk academically because they are chronically absent. Chronic absence is described as missing 10 percent of the school year—or about 18 days – for any reason, excused or unexcused. Research shows that’s the point at which absenteeism begins to affect student performance.

During Attendance Awareness Month, we are asking you to help us reduce absenteeism locally by taking these steps:

  • Build a habit and a culture of regular attendance.
  • If there are challenges that make it difficult for your student to attend school, let us know so we can help.

Conference Time!

We will be having our ESL Conferences on Sept 21 from 4-6:30. If you have not scheduled your ESL conference, please call our office at 279-6845 to ensure an interpreter.

We will also host conferences on Sept 28 for all families from 8am - 8pm. To schedule your conference, you can visit the website listed below. Any open time on either day can be scheduled to meet with your child's teacher.

West High Homecoming

WHS Homecoming week is 9/11-9/15. As in the past, we will be participating in daily "spirit days" along with WHS. Some of these will be the same as WHS and others do not match...due to appropriateness with our littles.

House Shirt Fridays!

All of our students received new house shirts during the second week of school. We are fortunate to have a great partnership with the Kind World Foundation. This organization has provided funds for the past two years to make it possible for ALL Liberty students to have a shirt to representing their house. We have had donations from other groups (Triumph-Seabord Foods, Liberty Staff) as well to support our house activities!

The goal is to have all students wear their house shirts each Friday as well as on days when we have house events and celebrations. We will communicate when these events fall on a day other than Friday.
