Message from the Director
Measuring your progress is the surest way to keep motivated and meet your goal. For our operation, measuring our progress daily through participation keeps our budget goals on track. Data always tells a story. Below is January's Meal per Labor Hour (MPLH) report and you can see that all schools have met their goal and are in the "green." The picture is a bit hard to read but you can download the file (by clicking on the link below the picture) to see more detail. I noticed that, although Breakfast has grown tremendously this year, it seems to have leveled off. When you celebrate National School Breakfast Week at your school, numbers are bound to go even higher and I look forward to seeing a participation increase. Thank you for working to keep students engaged with all the promotions, customer service and high quality meals. Your hard work shows when participation is measured! Another measurement we use to meet goals is the amount of product "wasted" on your production records. This tells the story of forecasting accuracy and when it needs to be improved. Forecasting is what drives purchasing. Without measuring data, everything we do would just be a guess and inaccurate. I am so proud of how you review the data to make informed decisions and work to improve production. I'm excited that in August, you will receive an annual stipend based on how our budget performs. For the first time, you will directly impact the amount of the stipend by using measurements to meet goals, delivering excellence in customer service and preparing food at the peak of quality. When our budget does better, you will do better and deservedly so!
With gratitude,
Kathy
