REGION 6 SPOTLIGHT
Spencerville Hosts Family Fun Night
Spencerville elementary is wrapping up year one of the National Network of Partnership Schools (NNPS) project. They recently hosted a family fun night that was organized by their NNPS planning team.
Susie Wagner, the elementary principal, shared "our goal was to create a night that contained activities the students could take and use at home. We had leveled math games that featured dice. Students received supplies to build geodesic domes. They were given journals, pens and pencils; everything they needed to creatively write. The students made calming strips, and the parents were given mindfulness tips. We even had a packet of resources for preschool students, filled with scissors, play-doh, pipe cleaners, crayons and more!!"
SST6 looks forward to your future plans for partnerships with families!

Families of Students with Disabilities
Families are essential partners with teachers in supporting their child's educational progress. This is especially true for families of students with disabilities. This page offers resources for you as a family member as you navigate the educational process for students with disabilities.
Opioid Mitigation Strategies with the PBIS Framework
April 12 @ 12:00
Students living in a home with a parent using opioids are more likely to experience a parental overdose, chronic stress, added household responsibilities and unmet mental health needs.
These students are at a higher risk for physical, academic, and social- emotional problems. In 2020, Ohio had 5,017 unintentional drug overdose deaths, a 3% increase over 2017 and a 25% increase over 2019.
Join this 1 hour (1) overview to learn how to connect opioid abuse prevention and mitigation strategies to your existing PBIS framework. Participants will also learn strategies to address the mental health needs of students negatively impacted by opioid use. See flyer for details.
