Oh What Else is Inside MyBackback .........Britannica Online!
Britannica Online is an online encyclopedia that includes a powerful package of resources and tools. Students can download information directly into a google drive or save data in the the Britannica portal that can also be accessed anywhere. That information includes print information, videos, photos and more. EB archives also includes learning games for interactive panels and whiteboards. You can reach those games with the following address which works within the Britannica platform: http://www.archive.school.eb.com. Please click on Learning Materials. One of the great things about Britannica Online is that the Educator's portal includes standards from each state with resources and lesson plans for each standard. Try it out you will be pleasantly surprised and engaged.
Juneteenth Celebration - Atlanta History CenterThis year the Atlanta History Center will host "Lift Every Voice" its annual Juneteenth Celebration on June 15 -16, 2019. The Juneteenth weekend will explore the complex history of the end of slavery in the United States. Participants can get an in-depth understanding of what enslaved peoples went through to secure their freedom and why their experiences are relevant today through museum theatre performances, talk-back sessions, crafts, and more. Admission is free for the weekend. The Atlanta History Center is located at 130 West Paces Ferry Rd NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30305. | Literature Comes to the Stage ......"Ghost" The Alliance theater will bring the award winning author, Jason Reynolds' book "Ghost" to the stage. The story follows the character Castle Cranshaw nicknamed Ghost as he runs from his past and runs into his future by mistake. This book has been adapted into a play at the Alliance Theater for the Rich Stage. The dates for the performances are October 26 - November 6, 2019. Students may feel compelled to read the other books in the series - Patina, Sunny, and Lu. Please remember your Tickets for Teachers option. Middle and High School students can get tickets for $10. | Flipgrid Flipgrid is a social learning platform that allows educators to ask a question, then have students respond in a video. Students are then able to respond to one another, creating a “web” of discussion. This can be a creative tool to assist students to respond to literature and give them new and different perspectives. |
