LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Dolphin Families,
I am delighted to share with you the exciting events that unfolded at our school this week, as our scholars had the wonderful opportunity to go on two field trips that seamlessly connected their classroom learning to the vibrant tapestry of our greater community.
1. Amazon Career Day Field Trip: Our technology-focused scholars had a great experience during the Amazon Career Day Field Trip. This outing provided them with a firsthand application of the skills they are learning in their technology elective. The trip not only showcased the practical application of their learning but also opened their eyes to a myriad of potential careers that lie ahead. Witnessing the real-world impact of their studies can be a powerful motivator for our students, and we are thrilled to have been able to have this eye-opening experience.
2. 8th Grade Dual Language Program and Multi-Lingual Students at the Moore Theatre: In parallel, our 8th-grade students in the Dual Language program and multi-lingual students were treated to the production, "Bailadores de Bronce," at the Moore Theatre. This performance celebrated a local Mexican Folklorico dance group that has been a beacon of leadership in our community for the past five decades. The students were immersed in the rich tapestry of Mexican culture as they learned about the various stories embedded in Mexican Folklorico dance, each representing the unique regions and narratives of the country. Experiences like these contribute significantly to the holistic education we strive to provide.
I am genuinely thrilled that our school has resumed the tradition of field trips. These outings play a pivotal role in helping our students understand the purpose behind their classroom learning and expose them to a world of opportunities for their future. The synergy between classroom learning and real-world experiences is a key element in shaping well-rounded individuals, and we are hopeful to provide more of these experiences in the future. Thank you for your continued support in making these opportunities possible for our students.
Warmly,
Mary Ingraham

SPS Student Climate Survey
This month the Seattle Public Schools will launch our annual fall climate surveys to further understand and learn about students' experience at school.
This year, the school district is surveying students on their social-emotional learning competencies and views about the overall school environment. Students in grades 3 - 12 will take the survey at school during class time. The survey will be specifically asking students about their experiences with belonging, representation, and relationships; identity and culturally responsive teaching; safety, bias, and anti-racism; pedagogical effectiveness; positive behavior and safety; social emotional learning; student voice and leadership; and college and career readiness.
If you have any questions about the fall surveys, please feel free to contact us.

Family Income Survey: Action Item for All Families
Why is this Survey Important?
The Family Income Survey provides your student’s school with a way to collect household income information. This information is important because it helps your school receive federal and state funding (Learning Assistance Program, teacher incentives, etc.).
The form is simple to fill out and confidential. The information will only be used to help your school receive funding from state and federal programs.
In addition to healthy and nutritious meals, the Family Income Survey helps to fund programs such as:
- Before and after school enrichment programs
- School counselors
- Health and wellness services
- Resources for classrooms and teachers
Please complete and submit this form. Families with multiple students will only complete this form once. Regardless of income level, families with students at Denny International should complete the Family Income Survey.
