Eagle Eye - August 2022
Middle/High School Community Update
Summer Learning for Staff
Our teachers have been busy this summer - taking some time to relax of course, but also taking many opportunities to extend our learning. A group of educators attended the AVID conference in Minneapolis, in addition to the summer professional development we offer in house including Spanish classes taught by our very own Ms. Mendoza, AVID sessions led by Mr. Barfknecht & Mrs. Doorenbos as well as tutorials on the new student Chromebooks led by Mr. Christoffer & Mr. Rogotzke. Finally, our new teachers had an awesome 3 days of learning the Windom Way in Boot Camp July 26-28. Boot Camp is an on-boarding training we have provided over the past two years to acclimate all our new teachers on how we do things for students. Our staff has a growth mindset and thrives in the opportunity to expand our learning in the summer months!

Assistant Principal - Misty Riebel
I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you all. I am new to the district, but a familiar face to some within the district from my previous role at Red Rock Ridge/ELC-Windom’s setting IV behavior based program and ALC. I am very excited to be here to support and serve you in the role of your Windom Area MS/HS Assistant Principal. I look forward to the great things and opportunities this upcoming school year has to offer for all.
I believe that each of the staff and students have capabilities that are well beyond what you or I could dream of. I want to work to support their goals in order to bring the best out of each of the team and students. I believe that each student is capable of learning and it is our job as educators to help each child grow to their full potential. It may be a bumpy road getting there, but with fidelity, determination, growth, and support, I fully believe it is possible.
Looking forward to a new year, there are several new opportunities for for all. With collaboration, teamwork, and support we can cultivate an environment for growth.
I look forward to meeting you soon!
Misty Riebel
MS/HS Assistant Principal

Cottonwood Jackson CEO
Windom Schools is partnering with JCC Schools, Mt. Lake Area Schools, Mt. Lake Christian Schools, as well as many key business leaders in all three communities to build a CEO program to offer to area students in the Cottonwood Jackson County areas starting with the 23-24 school year. The CEO program is unlike any other class, but will still be a class that students earn high school credits for. We are at the point in the creation where we are creating an advisory board. The advisory board will be recruiting the investors that fund this program for the first three years and beyond, as well as finding a local individual to work as the program facilitator. We believe in this program as an opportunity to help grow our own students in the capacity to be the business leaders of tomorrow in our communities.
