GT Screening for Current 5th Grade Students
Students in fifth grade who are not currently identified for the elementary Challenge program have the opportunity to be screened for Gifted and Talented Program service to begin in the fall of sixth grade. Secondary gifted program options are available in English, reading, mathematics, science, and social studies. Students may be screened in any or all of these content areas.
If you would like to refer your child for secondary Gifted and Talented screening, complete a Secondary Parent Checklist and return to your child’s elementary campus by September 20, 2018. Secondary Parent Checklists will not be accepted after September 20th.
You may obtain a Secondary Parent Checklist from your child’s campus counselor beginning September 5, 2018. You may also access the checklist on the Katy ISD website at:
http://www.katyisd.org/dept/GT/Pages/default.aspx
If you refer your child for screening, testing will take place at your child’s campus in October and November. You will be notified of the placement decision by U.S. mail in January.
Contact the Challenge teacher at your child’s elementary school with any questions.
