November 29, 2021
Good Morning Memorial Families,
I hope that your long holiday weekend was enjoyable and provided you with time to connect with those you love. Happy Hannukah to all of our families who celebrate and we look forward to all of the festivities that December brings.
We are likely only days or weeks away from measurable snowfall now that the winter months are here and we have definitely entered into the "cold" weather! At Memorial, students go outside if the temperature feels like 20 degrees or above. We also permit and encourage snow play at recess. Please be sure that your child is ready for 20 plus minutes in the fresh air for recess by sending him/her in with a coat every day. Put your child’s first and last name inside the coat in case it gets misplaced while at lunch and remind your child of the importance of dressing for the weather. Once we have snow on the ground, in order to play in it, your child should remember the following items:
Coat
Snowpants
Boots
Mittens/Gloves
Hat
If your child does not wish to play in the snow, we will have the courts open for students as well.
With the uptick in coronavirus cases, and the expected increase post-Thanksgiving, just a few reminders:
We ask that if your child has been identified as a close contact outside of school that you let Mrs. Ryan know and adhere to current quarantine guidelines, which Mrs. Ryan can explain. We can only utilize test and stay on students who are deemed close contacts in school. If your child is considered a close contact due to exposure outside of school, quarantine rules apply.
With some of our students becoming fully vaccinated, it is important to understand how quarantining changes. For fully vaccinated people, if you are identified as a close contact, you do not need to quarantine so long as you are symptom-free. Students must be two weeks past their second shot to be considered fully vaccinated.
Please continue to be vigilant about runny noses, sore throats, headaches, and coughs and do not send your child in if they have symptoms.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Lisa Ryan, who is happy to explain protocols to you.
Have a wonderful week!
Warmly,
Wendy

What is a SEPAC? It stands for ‘Special Education Advisory Council’ It’s designed as a support system and forum for loved ones of children who currently are or in the future may need special education services.
Why SEPAC? SEPAC works to encourage understanding, respect, acceptance, and inclusion of all students. SEPAC provides opportunities for parents and guardians to share experiences, exchange information, and learn more about challenges facing today's students. SEPAC’s also work directly with the district's Student Support Services department to provide feedback on a variety of topics.
