Sandwich High School, learning today, shaping tomorrow.
Welcome
The last couple of weeks have been exciting at Sandwich High School. Our sports teams are wrapping up the fall season and our clubs and extracurriculars are keeping the halls busy. The Fall play was a great success and DCP-SAFE has hosted dress up days to boost spirits.
As we head into the cooler temperatures of Autumn I hope you can take some time to enjoy the weather and fall colors with your family.
Good News
I am happy to announce that Sandwich High School has been designated “Commendable” by the ISBE and the Federal Every Student Succeeds Act. This designation means schools performed well compared to other schools within the state, including the performance of our subgroups.
The federal Every Student Succeeds Act requires all states to implement an accountability system that annually meaningfully differentiates the performance of all public elementary and secondary schools. These annual summative designations recognize schools with strong overall performance across a range of academic and student success indicators and also identifies schools to be placed in school improvement status.
As the Principal of Sandwich High School I would like to say how proud I am of the academic achievements by our student body. Through no fault of our families, staff, or students, earning academic successes have been more difficult the last few years and with the help of the Sandwich High School families and staff, our students are remaining among the brightest in their classes. Sandwich High School staff has continually strived to meet our students where they are and it shows with our designation of “Commendable” by the ISBE and the Federal Every Student Succeeds Act.
