VortEX 2018 Functional Exercise
The Beaverton School District joined several Washington County organizations in the VortEX 2018 Functional Exercise on Tuesday, May 22, 2018. The exercise scenario was a severe wind storm that caused major power outages, downed power lines, downed trees, etc. The purpose of the exercise was to test and evaluate organizational and interagency response plans, procedures, and equipment.
The District used this opportunity to test our Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activation, EOC organization, communications, and business continuity.
Participating organizations included: TriMet, Portland General Electric, Intel, City of Beaverton, Clackamas County, Washington County, City of Hillsboro, City of Wilsonville, NW Natural, OHSU West Campus, Kaiser Permanente, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue (TVFR), the Washington County Consolidated Communications Agency (WCCCA), American Red Cross, Tualatin Valley Water District (TVWD), Washington County Health and Human Services, and Metro West Ambulance.
AVID Senior Celebration
District staff, parents and seniors in AVID elective classes celebrated the first graduating class of students who participated in four years of the AVID program in the Beaverton School District at the Avid Senior Celebration on Tuesday, May 22.

Please note: the first day of school for the 2018-2019 school year is Monday, August 27, 2018. More information will be published in the Back-to-School Packet in early August.
2018 Summer Food Service Program
This summer, children can enjoy free lunches through the Summer Food Service Program sponsored by Beaverton School District Nutrition Services Department. The Summer Food Service Program is a federally-funded nutrition program open to all children ages 1-18 years. Adults can eat for just $3.50. No applications or registration are necessary, and all children and teens are welcome. In addition to lunch, some sites offer breakfast in conjunction to scheduled summer school programs.
There are 18 school sites providing meals this summer. All children are encouraged and welcome to come join in the fun! Bring your children or tell a friend. Operation days can be different for some sites so please check the Nutrition Services Summer Meal Program website for dates, locations, and times. Lunches will be served Mon. - Fri., June 25 through August 15, 2018 at most of the following sites:
Elementary Schools: Aloha-Huber Park K-8, Barnes, Beaver Acres, Chehalem, Elmonica, Fir Grove, Greenway, Kinnaman, McKinley Raleigh Hills, and Vose.
Middle Schools: Meadow Park
High Schools: Aloha, Beaverton, Mountainside, Southridge, Sunset and Westview.
In addition, lunches will be delivered to the following mobile site locations this summer:
