Bobcat Bulletin

Week of Dec. 14th

Principal Petrick Message

Hello Bobcat Families!

This week I was able to get an update on an exciting Bond Construction project for our school. We are tentatively scheduled to have a vestibule (lobby near front entrance) installed this Spring. The vestibule is part of a heightened security package that also includes surveillance cameras in key places in and around our building. (cameras not expected until 2021-2022 school year) Vestibules allow visitors to enter the building and check in with the office but prohibits them from entering into hallways without office approval.

The money to perform our Bond Construction upgrades came from the 2017 continuation of a property tax Bond program passed by Hillsboro voters. The Bond did not raise property taxes. Bonds allow school districts to invest money into equipment and facilities. FVES is slated to get more updates during the Summer of 2021. We will keep you updated with what those items are as we draw closer to the Summer.

Have a great weekend!

Mr. Petrick

Staff Transitions

We are excited to welcome back Ms. Cruickshank (1st grade) from her Maternity leave. Ms. Cruickshank will be returning to the classroom on Monday Dec. 7th and will be splitting teaching duties with Ms. Hawthorne for the remainder of the year.

We are appreciative of the contributions of Speech Language Pathologist Jane Murphy. Ms. Murphy came out of retirement to help us with SLP duties to start the year. We now have Ms. Lee Decouteau taking over the SLP duties. We are currently in a transition period to get Ms. Decouteau onboarded. If you have questions about SLP scheduling you can contact Paice Adams.

FVPAE Needs Can Driver Volunteer

Farmington View's Can and Bottle Recycling Program is looking for a volunteer to take over transporting the bags of sorted cans/bottles to the Oregon Beverage and Recycling Center in East Portland. Our current volunteer, Dick Meeuwsen, is an FVES alumni father who continues to do FVPAE a huge service out of the kindness of his heart! He is needing to "retire" from his volunteer position due to health reasons but is willing to stick around to show the new volunteer the ropes. If you're interested in volunteering or have questions please contact Natasha at natasha.garcia93@gmail.com.

Details: He uses an 18ft trailer but 16ft would also work. Typically he takes one load per month, although it has increased to two loads since COVID started.

Boosters Giving Tree

Dear Farmington View Community,

Traditionally near parent-teacher conferences, our annual “Giving Tree” benefitting teachers and staff would have adorned the hallways at Farmington View, giving families an opportunity to share out of our abundance or simply out of a spirit of generosity. While things look different due to coronavirus, we do not feel the reasons for this activity have gone away, and therefore have looked into an alternative way of making it happen by asking the teachers to make online wish lists (just have the gift sent to address they put in the system). We know that COVID has had different financial impacts for each family, so please do not feel obligated in any way, but if you are interested please find links to the teachers lists below (please note that not all teachers/staff submitted lists):
