Saturday Gardening
Weldon & Mark prepare to shred over 50 bags of leaves people have dropped off.
A reminder though: nothing but leaves in the bags. No pipes, rocks, or stumps.
Mark, Marco, & Leroy untie the bags and check the contents.
Helen & Ofel find radishes ready to pick.
No girls, that's not mistletoe you are holding! :) Those are radishes!
Meanwhile, the masked men keep working the chipper.
A limited, yet lovely crop of radishes.
Careful Helen! Besides cans to recycle and dead marigolds for composting, there's dog poop in that trash can too.
Asparagus foliage turns colors too! Who knew?! Chris knows.
Experimenting with frost cloth. Which bed of garlic will grow better this winter? Covered or un-covered?
Weldon builds Mount St. Michael while Marco takes a break from turning compost.
What's steamy and smells like coffee? Our big beautiful compost pile!

Leroy, Mark, & Weldon shredding leaves. The pile behind them was donated by a lawn firm (12 x 8 ft truck load)
Chris & Jacqueline cut all of the asparagus down and carried to the shredding pile.
In addition to taking out asparagus, Jacqueline dug up a rosemary bush which will be handed out at Mass.
Jacqueline took out all of the mint and Chris will dry it for selling next spring.
