STUDENT PORTFOLIOS
As we continue to refine our student portfolio system, please plan to have samples of student writing from each of the units this year (if you haven't given them away already for previous units). Plan to have drafts, published piece, and rubric to be part of the student's portfolio for each unit, as well as the final F&P. We should also plan to send some end-of-unit Math Module Assessments, and maybe the Interim Assessment.
CLASS PLACEMENT 2019-2020
- If you have 2 students from your class that you would like to be placed together, paper clip their forms together
- we will give you a few stickers to highlight forms of students who (1) struggle behaviorally, (2) are high maintenance because of needs or (3) have high maintenance families. Come prepared to know which students will be flagged for which category.
- There will be ONE standalone class in 5th grade; if you have students that you think would benefit from NOT being in a departmentalized team of teachers and would be better served by having a single teacher for all subjects, be prepared to discuss why.
- we will be attempting to cluster ENL students by level.
- in Dual Language: we will not be moving classes forward together in their current groupings. Please give careful consideration to which students should be together, and whether students should be in one-way or two-way scenarios. Students who are newer to the country will be dispersed across sections.
ROOM PREPARATION
If you are one of the few teachers who will NOT be returning until the first day of school with students, please let Randy, Crystal, Tracy and Myron know before leaving for the summer.
