Writing
We are working on personal narratives. We will be taking it through the writing process so it will be a long unit.
Reading
We are currently learning about fables. A fable is a story that teaches a lesson, usually using animals as the characters. We will be talking about the lessons of the story as well as making personal connections to the story.
Please remember to sign your student's reading menus. Students should be reading 20 minutes every night! This not only helps with their fluency, but can help increase a child's vocabulary as well. If you do not have a lot of books at home, you can remind your student to visit the library when they are finished with their books, or you can get a library card at the Brazoria County Library near HEB.
Science
We are talking about conservation and recycling this week!
Math
Social Studies
We will be sharing our projects this week as well as beginning to learn about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
Specials
Please also make sure that your students brings their library book to school daily. They are allowed to read them while waiting to enter class in the morning. They are also able to visit the library to exchange books on days that they do not go to the library during specials. They do need their library books on the days that they go to library!
Notes and Reminders
Please check and sign your child's communication folder each and every day.
School starts at 8:00, tardy slips are now being given at 8:01.
School ends at 3:25
First Grade is able to have visitors for lunch on Wednesdays!
Don't get tripped up at school! Practice tying those shoe laces! Safety first! :)
Drop Off/Pick-up with Car Rider
If you have a student in 3-5 grade, you will drop off students (including younger siblings) in the back by the cafeteria. If you only have students in PK-2, you will drop off students in the front area by the office.
During dismissal, it is very helpful if you have your student's car rider number hung visibly from your mirror. If you have things on your dash, you might need to make sure the number is still visible. If you have lost your tag, you can write the number (with a marker so that it is easily seen) on a sheet of paper and use that.
If you need to change your student's transportation for the day, please send a note or contact the office before 2:30. This will ensure that the office is able to notify the teacher and student in time to make those changes.
