WMS Friday Forecast
May 28, 2021 - Week 36
Dear WMS Parents and Guardians:
There were times this year when I wasn't sure we were all going to make it to today. This was a tough year for many students, staff, and parents. But we did it! It is time to take a deep breath and change gears for the summer.
I would encourage you to help your child take a break from technology, reconnect with old friends face to face, and have some fun. For many of us, one of the best things about quarantine was developing a slower, less frenzied pace. I would also encourage all of us to remember that life does not have to be fast-paced to be fulfilling. Sometimes sitting around in our PJs and reading a book, taking a long bike ride, cooking together, or getting out the fingerpaints makes for some opportunities to have fun and relax.
Next year, we will be working on a few changes here at WMS. You will see that we will continue our outdoor passing periods and lunch recess time on the back blacktop. We will also encourage kids to use their backpacks to reduce time at lockers and increase readiness in class. And we will also be working to reduce students' time in front of screens with a push back to a better balance of technology with pen and paper, markers and glue, posters, and dioramas.
Enjoy your summer!

At-School Medication & Reminders
Any at-school medications which were not picked up by an adult by May 28th, will be disposed of. All medication orders must be renewed each school year. These forms are available on the district website under “Parents”, then “forms”, or by contacting the health office.
Appointments for the required 6th grade and 9th-grade physicals tend to fill up quickly and should be scheduled now! Please submit the completed physicals to the respective schools as they are done. They are required to be submitted for review prior to the first day.
The health office is closed during the summer months. We will return for limited hours beginning in early August. Please contact us if there are new medical concerns for your child or if your child will need a health plan at school.
