Spelling Bee en Español
The Spanish language is a naturally lovely, graceful and romantic language. It’s also one our school is known to compete with! Escuchaste bien, our amazing Spelling Bee Español club under the direction of our excelente maestra Ms. Luna is always up for the Spelling Bee Español challenge. By learning Spanish spelling our scholars are able to communicate with Spanish speakers through spelling and speaking. Great job Hawks and as always gracias Ms. Luna for providing our scholars with this amazing opportunity.

HOSA Club

CRLP Science Fair Club
We wouldn't be a STEM school with out a superb CRLP Science Fair Club! The club is under the direction of our sensational Chemistry Instructor Ms. Amanda Shinn. Thank you Ms. Shinn for making this possible for our scholars! We appreciate you! The club meets virtually to discuss all things Science and it is so much fun! Next time you see one of our Science club members ask them what project they are working on next! Way to go Hawks!

Philosophy Club
The "Love of Wisdom" is prospering in our virtual club-rooms! "Our Harmony School of Excellence Philosophy Club seeks to foster philosophical discussion among interested scholars in an informal, student-friendly environment. It aims to provide scholars an outlet for discourse about philosophical questions that are important to them." said club sponsor Mr. Zapata.
Some of the topics they have discussed so far are (1) The origins and definition of philosophy, (2) Whether art should be censored and we observed this subject matter through the lens of Plato the Philosopher. (3) How one measures the value of human life using Hardin's LifeBoat Ethics philosophy. (4) They have also spoken about the case for conservatism and made a contrast with (5) socialistic government.
We thank not only our scholars for participating in this note worth club but also Mr. Zapata for without his encouragement, unique insights and dedication to our scholars this wonderful opportunity would not be available.
We thank you Mr. Zapata!

FTC Club
The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a robotics competition for students in grades 7–12 to compete head to head, by designing, building, and programming a robot to compete in an alliance format against other teams. We could not be an awesome STEM school with out an FTC Club!
Our FIRST Tech Challenge scholars learn to think like engineers. Teams design, build, and program robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams.
The club is under the direction of Mr. Sergio Ortega and we could not be more thankful for the grand opportunity you are providing our scholars! Great job Hawks!

College Counseling and Leadership Club
College Counseling and Leadership Club under the direction of Mr. Pala is on the right track! During club time, the club comes together to chose one college per club meeting and then discuss all requirements needed to become apart of the selected college's student-body. Scholars review SAT score requirements, GPA needs. tuition costs, scholarship opportunities and much more! A great virtual step forward in the right direction! Great job Hawks and thank you Mr. Pala for providing this club the much needed support.

Who's Who?
In the spotlight today is this weeks Who’s Who Ms. Amanda Shinn. This is her 2nd year as a teacher and we are happy to announce she began her teaching career here at Harmony! Ms. Shinn has a Bachelors of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry as her higher education foundation.
When asked why she choose this profession she shared she grew up surrounded by family members who were educators, and she was inspired by their love for teaching and cultivating learning. Throughout her own education, she always found myself leading discussions and helping my fellow classmates make connections to the material presented while discovering a love for science. It was a natural fit for her to combine the two and pursue her profession in education.
Her favorite classroom experiences involve when she is able to see her scholars make connections between chemistry and the real world. “It is humbling and rewarding being able to see their growth not only academically but personal growth as well.” said Shinn
Ms. Shinn would like our Harmony community to know she is honored to be a member of the Harmony family. She goes on to say she is committed to ensuring her scholars get the best education and are successful in all their endeavors.
A fun fact about Ms. Shinn is that in her free time, she enjoys playing with her 10 month old, Australian Shepherd, Jax. Next time you see Ms. Shinn ask her what fun new games Jax and her have come with!
